The iPados makes 26 Apple tablet like Macos. Better windong? Check. Menu bar? Yes, the preview also edit the documents as well as another excellent tone file app. It is as if Apple took a checklist of long -standing electric user requests and fulfilled them all. It is sufficient that the App Store wall garden may be the last reason to stay with your Mac.
For me, iPad production changes were the most interesting part of Apple’s WWDC 2025 key note. Years ago, when Apple first made iPados friendly for more work, I tried to replace my MacBook from iPad Pro. After examining a number of Microsoft’s levels, I wanted a dimet, equivalent to an Apple. So, despite the clear limits of the iPad, I gave it a shot.
I was fine for most of the tasks. But there were always things that slowed me down. Apple’s distribution view, which keeps two apps together, was solid. The stage manager added even more windong newborn. But it was still not equivalent to manually configuring Windows. I just had to hop on one Mac, and matters became clear: the iPad was nowhere ready for my workflow. I was trying to fit a square pole in the round hole.
The changes to iPados 26 will eventually bring the bullet closer to something that can replace Mac. For many people, I suspect this will be more than enough. You can keep Windows anywhere and change the size of the flow. The menu will make it easier to access the fine controls of apps. You can tile windows and see them all in a grid with display. The file of the files matches with Mac’s Finder. Make the new preview app a documentary document. And you can easily return to the full screen iPad at any time.

This raises the question: Where does iPeado still fall less than Macos? This lock is, stupid.
Mac grew up in an era when you could install apps from anywhere. First, it was a discs. Then, the Internet. Certainly, Apple has made changes in the last decade, which makes Macos a bit more limited. SIP protection (SIP) comes to mind. Gate keeper too. However, overall, it is a relatively open environment. Getting your apps from anywhere means wider choices, faster updates and low restrictions.
On the other hand, the iPad was made from the iPhone. (These elderly people can remember the “This is just a big iPod Touch” commentary that makes fun of the first model.) App Store has always been the only official way to install apps on the member (yet EU exception). This is left in iPados 26.
Tablet software also prevents apps from undermining security and privacy restrictions. Although it may not feel like a good idea, it may be a killer feature for reliable Mac Apps.
Keyboard master on Macos (Staircase software)
For example, the keyboard master on MacOS can almost almost almost through automated board and mouse. The batter also offers an endless list of customization (almost), including window controls. – A clipboard manager, with the same stroke, can display everything you copy.
Then there are Mac apps that allow you to use the Apple version replacement. Third party launchers like Ray Cast and Alfred are like spotlights on launchers steroids. (Their expansion libraries are very wide, they have their own store fronts.) Apps like rectangle and mum give you an alternative to Apple’s window management. Many Mac Apps offer more flexible text alternatives than Apple’s built -in solution.

What Ipados 26 does pulls a line between two types of power users. As before, MacPower users will use some of the above examples. Meanwhile, a new class of iPad power users will enjoy desktop capabilities. But the latter will still be limited to the Apple version, well, Everything. Power is now stronger. The openness, however, is not.
Just for that reason, I will probably be Mac First Man in the near future. But iPados 26 will surely test me to experience me.
