Apple had a lot to say about iOS 26 in WWDC 2025. The translation will be a special sign of the new features of the Apple Intelligence coming up in the next repetition of the iPhone operating system. During the annual showcase in Caphateeno this year, the team revealed that it was adding a direct translation of calls and texts with integration into messages, phones and fee time apps.
Direct translation will run by AI model on the device. When translations are taking place during a call, they will be spoken aloud by the AI sound and also appear as a written title. In the text, the messages can be translated automatically while the user types. Apple’s input experience director, Leslie Icumoto, noted that direct translations will also be available when talking to a non -Apple smartphone. However, he did not clarify which languages would be supported in a direct translation, so we would keep an eye on this details.
IPados 26 will also translate directly into the same three basic apps: phone, facetime and messages. Apple noted that automatic translation will be available in one -to -one messages along with group chats on the iPad. And if you have an iPhone that supports the use of Apple Intelligence features, direct translations can also be used with the Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 in Watchos 26.
Apple added some translation features in Siri in iOS 11, then launched its own dedicated translation app as part of iOS14. Now these abilities will be further well cooked in the iPhone operating system as part of the Apple Intelligence Sweet.
There has been some discussion about the possibility of adding a direct translation to the Air Pods at the Apple Camp, but anyone discussed it today. Google has just translated its Pixel buds for a few years, so this is the area where Apple is surpassing the features. It is possible that we will hear more about this topic in the fall when Apple’s key center builds more centers on hardware progress.
