There is something strange on Windows with Microsoft’s Xbox app. In the past few days, the Xbox PC app has begun showing the Xbox Console Games inside the library. While you can’t install games like original Alan Week Xbox 360’s iT, it appears that if you own it as part of the “My PC Games” list inside the Xbox PC app.
I’m not sure it’s a simple bug, but Microsoft’s more closely connecting its Xbox and Windows stores is the result of plans. I wrote about this attempt in March when I revealed Notices Microsoft is working with ASUS in a project canon handheld. I wrote at the time, “This is part of a major attempt to unite Windows and Xbox from a Universal Library of the Xbox and PC Games from Microsoft.”
Steam and epic sports store games have been included in the Xbox PC app library. Microsoft accidentally revealed photos of Mockup showing Steam Games in the Xbox PC Library earlier this year, and sources familiar with the company’s plans told me that Microsoft was working on an Xbox app update that would show every game installed on your computer.
Microsoft has also been working to make the Xbox app a PC gaming home over the past year, and has recently begun referring to its Xbox PC app as mere “Xbox PC”. This new branding appeared first in Microsoft announcement Gears of Battle: ReloadedAnd a new gameplay trailer for this Mayo: Memories in orbit The Xbox PC also shows branding and logo that whenever Microsoft wants to tell PC players that the game is available at its Microsoft Store.
All this changes in the Xbox PC and handheld work means that we are probably close to see how Microsoft plays extra games in the Xbox PC app. The big question will be whether the Xbox console games will actually be able to run on the PC, and Microsoft may need to take advantage of its cloud infrastructure for it unless it has any imitation to make the dream of playing old Xbox Games on the PC.
