YouTube is working on a way to promote the audience’s engagement during live streams. The purpose of this is to promote engagement by introducing a new leader board.
YouTube is running a test that will bring the engagement leader board to live streams of some creators. According to the announcement, this leader board will show the most 50 busy viewers on this channel. Viewers will be able to get points through a stream (such as comments, super chats, etc.), and they will see the points received through the Crown icon in the upper part of the chat. The post does not clarify that if some kind of engagement is worth more points than others.
You will be able to see the Top 50 Leader Board by clicking on the Wali Ahad icon. You can earn a bit if you get into one of the top three places. As YouTube explains, “Three viewers on the leader board will get a badge, which appears directly on the series with their names.”
Of course, there will probably be viewers who do not want to make their names on this leader board. It seems that the company has taken account of this possibility. If you want to opt out of this experience, you have to go to YouTube settings and select “Stop Leading Board Participation”.
According to YouTube, this experience is being tested only on a small group of consumers. So you don’t even see this new leader board. However, the company says it plans to increase the test later.
