In the recent 2025 of the Seaget, investor and analyst conferences, CEO Dr. Dave Mosali and CTO Dr. John Morris presented the company’s long -term roadmap for hard drive innovation.
It indicated the possibility of 150tb hard drives, The largest HDD so far, breaking the ground to 15 TB platters, but warned that the milestone remained at least a decade away.
This future foundation is in the hammer of the segun (heat -handed magnetic recording) technology, which is currently deployed through the company’s mosaic platform.

10TB per Platter on track for 2028
Dr. Morris said, “We have more confidence in our product roadmap through Mosaic 5.
Morris added that 10 TB per disk benchmark is expected to reach 2028. “We are confident that we can provide 10 tarbuts per disc in the time frame,” Morris added that the spin stand demonstration of new technologies usually takes five years to reach the product’s ability.
Looking beyond 10 TB, Seaget is looking for how to enhance its iron platinum media capabilities.
“We believe that this granular iron platinum is another level of expansion of architecture that can theoretically exceed 15 tarbuts per disk,”
In such actions, stacking 10 players per unit will pave the way for 150TB hard drives. However, he warned, “More than 15 terabytes per disk will require some degree of disruption.”
Sigate’s CEO, Dave Mosalie, echoed the vision for this long distance, “Now we know how we can go 4 and 5 and beyond. In fact, we have a merit … beyond 10 terabytes of disk with hammer technology.”
“It won’t be easy, but I’m sure we are going to keep us on a competitive cost path that there is probably no other technology running in the next decade, maybe ahead.”
The company’s confidence has the support of the recent milestone. Mosaic 3, which provides 3 TB per player, is now in the preparation of the volume, and the mosaic 4 (4 TB per player) is about to enter the customer’s eligibility in the next quarter.
Sigate expects the volume of the mosaic 4 drives to begin in the first half of 2026. Meanwhile, mosaic 5, which targets 5 TB per player, is planned for consumer qualifications at the end of 2027 or early 2028.
Nevertheless, C. Gate made it clear that 150tb drives based on 15 TB players are not close. As Morris emphasized, “This is the only element in the work we do to reduce our strategy … it will take time. We still have a lot of work to get there.”
