We have already seen AI crawling in Google search, whether you like it or not. The AI review began as a disappointing product that infected the original experience of the search for slow reactions, mistakes and occasionally non -helpful text walls. But it gradually improved, and the quick questions where you didn’t want to scroll through forums or click on five different links, was in fact useful. That’s why I hope, when, in I/O, Google announced a complete AI mode for everyday use.

Now, I have been relieved for a while for my AI -driven web searches. I stopped “Googleing” long ago. So, if similar AI capabilities can be cooked in Google Search, why will I use another app, okay?

It turns out, it’s not so easy. Once I really started comparing these both, the results were far more complicated.

Will you switch to AI First Search Engine as your default?

    Google Search’s AI mode vs

I asked them the same questions to give the two tolls a fair shot, to see how well they performed. With a massive understanding of Google’s web – and because of the fact that most of the Internet is mainly designed to work around the search – I assumed that AI mode will erase the floor.

But the point here is: It’s not about how much data you have, what it does to you.

It’s not about how much data you have, what it does to you.

    Logical errors loom

We talk about smartphones all day here, so surely this is the place I started. I imagined an average user who wants to upgrade my phone without strict research-reading reviews, watching YouTube videos, and double checking reputation Reddeddate posts. So, I asked AI to help.

The hint was just to suggest Samsung and Apple’s best phones less than $ 1,000.

Galaxy AI -56 and iPhone 16 E -56 with confidence Google confidently returned, definitely returned, but they are below the budget. The rest of his suggestions were not good. He believes the iPhone 14, a renewed iPhone 13, Galaxy A35, and Galaxy S23 ultra are good phones for such a budget. It was primarily a mess with a compound of old and new, premium and budget handsets.

In order to research the original market, any relying on it will go away from misinformation.

I tried to guide him further. I insisted on the latest models and demanded a comparison as well. I got a comparison, but the suggestions were caught in the budget area. It will not be just a budget.

On the other hand, the hassle gave me a table in my first response – clearly placed, with each phone’s stand out features and for whom. More importantly, he expected me for less than $ 1,000: Galaxy S25 Plus and iPhone 16/16 Pro. You know, the real current general things.

Also, Google’s AI mode felt as if it was emphasizing sales. The whole results page was full of shopping links, such as an over -sales person – when I was still trying to decide what I wanted.

    User (MIS) experience

I like these AI tolls can save me from opening 20 tabs to just get a clear answer or create a decent travel plan. I asked both AI format and anxiety to help me plan a seven -day budget of Vietnam, and AI mode was once again a mixed bag.

Google’s AI mode was definitely faster. He gave me a whole day a day in the first results. The consequences of both AI format and anxiety seemed very similar to curiosity, as if they were learning from the same source material. But the presentation is a place where the difference in reality was really prominent.

The AI format gave me a long, tired block of the text, which was broken only by built -in the text with its own blocks. Many words force you to scheme information that is already a summary of the text, which defeats intelligence, artificial or any other purpose.

A detailed project needed a follow-up of anxiety, but the answer was so good-justice tables, well-spread text, and a table with itemized and total estimated costs. I mostly use trouble for working on my desktop, and the big screen experience was even better. Each recommended hotel has a photo for reference, a map of its location, and some sharp profession and compatible (picture below) of the place. Such a small touch travels a long distance. Meanwhile, the world’s largest search engine struggled to add photos to its AI results, despite clearly asking.

    AI form

I have already mentioned how the text heavy AI mode feels, especially on the phone screen. This layout needs more love than Google designers because now, it looks dense and, by truth, even a little away.

    Joe Mark / Android Authority

Beyond the visuals, the original workflow is also a small thing. You will have to go from the Google Search Page or the app to the AI mode section, and then you can start typing your query. You can’t immediately start talking to the AI format as the disturbing allows you. Add it, the presence of AI review and AI format on the search results page, both are trying to accomplish the same purpose: increase clutter.

There is a clear difference between the product made from Earth to AI, and where AI was just one extra.

And don’t start me at the point of chat history-this is a multi-faceted process again because you have to enter AI mode first. AI mode does not give you an easy way to revisit past threads, which is like the whole point of AI search tools that work around followups and contexts, which you will not be able to continue in the same thread.

Why my muscle memory still prefers anxiety

    Ryan Hans / Android Authority

There is a clear difference between the product made from Earth to AI, and where AI was just one extra.

Anxiety feels more deliberately and logical. The results are well kept, the conversation is more fruitful, and it doesn’t look like it does not have a hidden purpose, as you click on the “Buy Now” button. It’s not perfect, but it feels like an old wine.

Google’s AI mode is a bit rough around the edges, but this is still a new feature, I can already see where it can come with some Polish. Knowing Google and the speed in which it is repeating its gymnasium models and cross -app AI integration, I would not be surprised if I returned in a few months and completely changed.
