Nvidia GeForce is now available to download on Steam Deck. The entire ancestral app was quietly announced in CES 2025, but now it is here. That is to say, this is one of the biggest moves that Nvidia made in cloud gaming will be a small thing.

I’m testing it, and not only has it renewed my love for steam deck, I think this combination can be the biggest risk of Nintendo Switch 2.

Of course, it comes with some conditions, which I will go, but just for the purpose of playing beautiful -looking games on a handheld, the deck now is to get Jefforus Main

So, what to do to beat Switch 2? As a concert that does not necessarily be disturbed by team chat, motion controls or other entertainment addition to Nintendo’s new console, this scroll will have to do two jobs:

    • Play games on the go really well: You do not feel like strengthening the battery life, as well as the data connection.
    • Be so good on the sofa: Plugin it into your dock should have a great screen experience with no smooth transition.

Does it kill both of these notes? Sort, because there is still some way. But this happens in the way I trust that the Nvidia here is on the right path, and it is being revised to my past decisions in the game. Let’s enter it.

How to get Nvidia GeForce on Steam Deck now

It has a bit of work, so let’s break the steps:

    1. Barley Desktop format.
    2. See NVIDIA GeForce now Site and download.
    3. Once downloaded Open File ExplorerClick right GeForcenowsetup.bin File, and click Specialty.
    4. From here, Go to the permission tab And click the next checkbox “Allow the file as a program.”
    5. Click OK, then Open GeForcenowsetup.bin. When you come back to the handheld mode, it will now be installed and your steam will be in the Deck Library.

There is a plan B using the command line if you need, but no one has to resort to it. If you are in a minority here, Nvidia’s you have been covered.

What were my steam deck obstacles?

Let’s address the elephant in the room: When I first loved the steam deck – I also reviewed it for laptop meg and was targeted. So, what changed in the last three years?

In fact, my use is always in the waves. This journey was excellent – playing AAA game in flight is still great, even if it is a little rough.

But in the last 12 months, three things happened that pushed him into a terrible “main drawer” (you know one).

    • Games are leaving it behind: Indies still shine, and some AAA titles kill 40 FPS – but this old AMD chip and tired battery make it a job to maintain it.
    • I have gaming pc: My only way to play PC Games was in the Steam Deck House. Now my tower does all heavy lifting.
    • Life got busy: Between work and travel, I needed a really good reason to bring my laptop as well as to bring my steam deck. Most of the time, the deck just lives at home.

But this is a really good reason. I now tell you about Jefforus, and how it has completely raised my love for the steam deck.

An RTX 4080 gaming pc in your hands

Drama, I know, but let me explain.

Inexpected people, Jeffor, is now Nvidia’s cloud gaming service linked to your current steam, epic, Ubesoft and Xbox libraries, and provides you with access to games that you already have.

Once the best server is selected after opening the game, you are taken straight to the game. And, if you are now on the ultimatate on the Jefforus, you have a full RTX 4080 gaming vein to play.

As you can see from screenshots, the difference is night and day if you are playing with good internet connection for two important reasons.

First of all, you are not relying on the AMD Silicon to strengthen sports. This means that hardware does not have any further limits, and this means that you can play cyberpanic 2077 on maximum settings for beautiful visuals on locked 60 FPS (the only obstruction of my OG Steam Deck’s refresh rate).

In fact, if something becomes a bit more demand (such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle), you can make it more than DLSS (provided you final) to make it even smooth. Whether I’m on my home network or in the pub, I can play my heart content.

    Longevity assured

And talking about it, it leads me to the other part – increases battery life. Currently, 40Wh cell is showing its age in my old steam deck. The firing in the Baltro session can see that life flows in about 90 minutes, and I don’t even have to start at about 45 45 minutes in which I go to the Hitman: the World of the killers.

But instead of rotating the AMD chip on the device, by putting computational demands on the cloud server, I have seen the longevity go up In a dramatic way

For context, playing at the same level on the hitman, I am able to get about 6 6 hours longer in one seat. Did I come out of the pub for this long game? Yes But it is fully revealing that the power demands on my steam deck are reduced from 15 watts to 7 watts for Jeffers, now and gaining a lot of potential for it.

Also, shout a less delay on the offer here. Cloud gaming has a little reputation for the controls left behind.

    Switch 2 to 1 up

But there is another thing that Steam Deck now has to blast Nintendo with GFForis: Dock Mode. I wired it to my TV to see what I could squeeze from it.

And the final result is incredible. This is not perfect, because it seems that the resolution scaling is limited to a 16:10 aspect of Steam Deck’s display, but the sincerity of sports here is due to the fact that you are running a whole gaming PC more than Nintendo Switch 2 is beyond it.

Going back to the hit man with everything was smooth in the frame rates to the Ultra and DLSS, the details were beautifully presented without any of the network speed error that you can see in the visuals and it scales well to a big screen.

If NVIDIA is reading this (HI), if you can update it to improve the external screens (maybe we can give us a full 4k 16: 9), it will be another important step.

A wonderful start, but still has some way to go

Let’s start clearly. Jefforus has now been the JZ moment of NVIDIA on the steam deck, which allows the company to re -introduce itself in the cloud streaming game.

The gameplay is closely free, to be integrated with a very short waiting hours (provided you go for the final or performance, which, which I see from Free Mode, are the only real ways to go) and the sheer reduction in power requirements means that I can play all day without any problems.

The transfer between handheld and docard mode needs to be done a bit so that it can really be songs on a TV. But as far as the first step is going, it is a Herculein jump in it.

Of course, there are some limits. The big entity for which it needs internet connection. But according to statistics, most of the time you live on your deck near a Wi -Fi network, so beyond the small conditions where you have to rely on your device’s chip to run offline, there is no better way to play on the steam deck.
