- The Google phone is testing two interfaces for the call screen on the app.
- Consumers may be able to choose between a tablet -based horizontal swipe UI or iPhone -like single tape UI for responding/declining calls.
- However, users may not have the choice to maintain the current vertical swipe UI, which is a shame.
Google has now been checking the phone app’s re -design for a while, mainly focusing on whether users respond or reject calls. In September 2024, we saw Google working to abandon the swipe operations for calls in favor of the iPhone -like and falling buttons. Recently, in March 2025, we saw Google Testing another new UI based on the left right swipe indicators. It doesn’t seem that Google has made its mind to go with the UI, and it is great for consumers, because it seems that it can give a choice between the two. Interestingly, this choice can be available together with the phone app content 3.

Google app V177.0.763181107 in the latest beta release phone, strings show that users can choose between horizontal swipe indicators and single tape buttons on the upcoming call screen.
Code
Copy Textinsor_Mithod_Prifs_List_ in the upcoming call indicator horizontal swipe single tap
Although we cannot activate the current repetition of the new UIS right now, we have seen both of them earlier.
For a recovery, the current call in the Google phone app looks like a UI.
For upcoming calls, you get the same button, which you can swipe to answer the call or swipe below to reject the call.
The incoming call UI will probably look like a single tape button Layout this way:
This layout is currently like the calls on the phone app on the iPhone, which is currently on iPhones on iOS 18, but OEMS like Samsung changes the button position on an UI -run Galaxy phones. You can see both in the pictures below:
Calls UI on the iOS 18.1 phone app on incoming iPhonesThe incoming Samsung phone app calls UI on Samsung Galaxy phones
The second choice that users can get is the bullet -based Ui for the left and right swipe signs:
When the call comes, the text of the fall is red and the response text is green, while the phone button at the center is dynamic to display the phone’s ring. Once the text is converted to black in a second, but when you swipe to the right to respond to the call to reject the call, the colors can be changed once again. You can see the animation in this video below:
For any option, Google Phone app will need to be re -trained for muscle memory for users, though users who convert the iPhone from the iPhone to the iPhone will welcome the single tape UI like the iPhone. Since Google is giving consumers a choice, nothing is preventing the company from maintaining the current vertical swipe and presenting it as a choice. We hope that the company will consider it if the company is really going forward with the upcoming call UI refresh. We do not know whether Google will do this or not, and when we learn more we will keep you updated.
