If you are thinking of starting as much cycling, you need one of the best motorcycle helmets, it’s just as easy. The extra protection you get from the helmet can make all the difference in the accident, and some helmets can now help prevent the collision.
We need to get an internal track on everything we need to know about the motorcycle helmet, we spoke to the co -founder of the unit 1, Geoan Garcia Manla, a company that makes smart bike helmets and other cycling accessories.
This is what you need to consider when buying your motorcycle helmet.

Cost
There is a clear place to start price, as you may have a well -budget available to spend on a motorcycle helmet.
“Prices are very different,” says Manala. “You will get the basic helmet starting about $ 30. More advanced options – which have better content, more features, or more safety certifications – can be $ 300 or more.
“In our case, smart helmets with integrated lighting, MIPs (multi -dimensional impact protection systems), crash alerts and other features usually come in the limit of $ 150- $ 230.”
Safety standards
The motorcycle helmet depends on some of the standards of safety where you live, and it should check with any helmet you are considering, especially if you are watching cheap helmets.
“In the United States, the quality is CPSC,” says Manala. “In Europe, this is EN-1078. Both were manufactured at a speed of about 15.5 miles per hour for traditional cycling speed.
“The NTA -8776, especially in the Netherlands, in mind the E -Bikes and the fastest citizens, has been created in the Netherlands, which has been created a new and more student certification in the Netherlands.
“It tests for the effects of up to 28 miles per hour/ 45 km per hour. Regardless of how fast you ride, a helmet that is certified by the NTA offers a high safety margin, a full stop.
“Additional assurances also look at independent testing such as some riders, such as Virginia Tech helmet rating, which evaluate the scenes of real -world impact.”
Rest and fit
Once you got a helmet that is in accordance with your budget and the required safety standards, you have to make sure it is comfortable and fits well – if the helmet is loose, it will decrease how effective it is during the effects.
If you ride in hot countries, it is also worth ensuring that the helmet has good air flow so it does not cause anxiety sweat during long rides.
You type cycling
Helmets will work for all kinds of cycling, but it has different features on which you should give priority to whether you are likely to ride on the road.
“Road cyclists usually find something lightweight with maximum ventilation,” says Manala. “Mountain bikers need head coverage and stability. The urban helmet design is clean, which has moderate air flow and adventurous features.
Technically, anyone can work in the helmet context, but what is made for your type of ride will always perform better.
Smart features
The motorcycle helmet is becoming smart all the time, and if you have a big budget, you can get features that increase your safety and ride experience.
“Our (unit 1) helmet, for example, includes integrated fronts and rear lights, turn signals, brake lights, ease of use and a magnetic buckle for crash alerts that send your location into emergency contact if you fall,” says Manala.
“These tools are designed to help you avoid collision and help you get help if someone happens.”
How often do you need to change the motorcycle helmet?
There is something to consider after you buy your helmet – when should you think about buying another?
“After any accident, the helmet should be changed, even if it looks right,” says Manala. “The effect can compromise the internal structure in the ways you cannot see.
“Without an accident, most helmets need to be changed every three to four years in terms of use. UV exposure, rain, sweat and normal clothing break all the material over time.”
