- Spotif is examining sub -gender and “more discovery” chips in gender -based playlists.
- The choice of a chip improves the current playlist with fresh tracks, rather than filtering the current things.
- For now, this feature looks limited to only some users, suggesting a controlled experience or limited rollout.
Many of us have a love affection for love with Spatifs. On the one hand, I just like the Spatif jam feature to listen to social listening, and I use it practically every week to schedule a music session with my partner and friends. On the other hand, the method of discovering Spatifs has felt me for many years, and they reorganize a few famous songs. The company is clearly listening to the problem of discovery, as consumers are now looking for sub -gender chips to help them discover new music.
Reddate user KWABB saw gender -related chips in the R&B Mix Playlist produced by their spots. Such playlists are already developed around a user’s preference but they cannot align well with the user’s active mood and preference, which cannot be a match. To cope with it, the company has introduced chips such as “more discovering” and “alternative R&B,” “nine souls,” and “pop R&B”. Possibly and logically, sub -gender chips will be different according to the playlist.
The user says selecting any of them updates the entire playlist with new content rather than just filter the existing list. These chips have so far only appeared in Spatif’s gender mix playlists, but the user’s experience has been positive, as it has revealed new music instead of cycling through “same old” recommendations.
We reached Spatif for a statement, and Spatif’s spokesperson gave us the following:
In spotifies, we conduct a number of tests as usual in an attempt to improve our user’s experience. Some of these tests pave the way for our broader user experience and others only work as an important education. We have no further news to share at this time.
I have not yet received these chips on my devices, so this is probably a controlled test or rollout, which we hope is spread to more users. Transfer, if you want to improve the discovery of spataf music, you can try to fully disable the smart shuffle option from the app.
