It is said that Reliance Geo has sought permission from the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) in a move to expand its Wi -Fi services. According to a report, the mobile operator has requested the Telecom Watch Dog to use the spectrum in the 26GHz band, which has been designated for the future of the 5G network possible deployment. Specifically, the move comes after Adani Group’s 400MHz spectrum last month after the decision to sell the Indian Airtel when he failed to identify the useful issue of use.
Referring to unknown officials, the Financial Express has reported that Geo has made this request under the notice inviting notice for the auction of the Spectrum for the IMT/5G telecom services (NIA), in which Advani Data Networks Limited arrived at the Airtel in April this year.
NIA’s Article 2.3 allegedly orders telecom operators to obtain advance approval from DOT for use of spectrum, which is actually assigned to any other alternative services for mobile technologies, in this case Wi -Fi. According to the Telecom Watch Dog, operators should work at least six months before deploying the band for the new purpose. The DOT officials allegedly said that Geo had officially submitted a request, but the matter is still under consideration. If he gets approval from the Telecom Watch Dog, the Errheel will allegedly file a similar application.
The benefits of 26GHz band
In particular, Wi-FI-based broadband services are usually deployed on 5GHz bands while 26GHz bands, with 3,300mHz frequency, are specific to 5G mobile networks. According to this report, using a 26GHz band for 5G services, Geo can adopt a hybrid deployment approach that connects its “ultra -high speed” with extensive coverage capabilities of 5GHz bands to provide consumers with high -speed broadband services in dense urban areas.
Analysts have reportedly noted that the 26GHz band is not only ready for the future for 5G deployment, but also has additional benefits related to its spectrum use charging (SUC). The income earned on this band can be allegedly separated from the Legacy Spectrum, where the Civic is still responsible, which helps the telecom operator only help pay the league spectrum to pay the income.
