Google has confirmed that one of the standout features of Android 16 – direct updates – will not be limited to pixel devices. This feature will also produce Samsung, OnePlus, Vivo, and Xiaomi’s smartphones later this year.
Direct updates, which were first introduced with Android 16 beta, offers real -time progress reports for apps such as food supply, radi share and navigation services. Instead of opening individual apps, users can see direct updates, such as how far when an Uber is arriving or how far with delivery, directly on their lock or domestic screens.
In Google I/O, the company presented this feature in more detail, highlighting its functionality and interactive options. Unlike the Apple version on iPhones, Android’s direct updates will allow you to take direct steps, such as calling the driver, sending a message, or tapping.
According to Google, Samsung intends to connect direct updates to the next time as part of the update of the next UI 8.
Meanwhile, One Plus will add this feature through direct alerts, which is introduced in the oxygen OS 15, which is similar to Apple’s dynamic island.
Vivo and Xiaomi will also connect direct updates into their Android skins.
Currently, direct updates are limited to the specific app category, namely delivery, rod share and navigation, but future updates can help wider work.
