The FCC has signed $ 20 billion worth of Verizon and Frontier Communication integration. With this approval of the Federal Agency, Verizon will allow its fiber to reach its fiber and significantly increase the consumer base, which is currently limited to the mid -Atlantic and northeast. By updating and expanding the current Frontier network in 25 states, Verizon will not only bring fiber to more communities, but can potentially match or further with its Internet rivals, AT&T fiber.
The merger is also expected to accelerate the transfer of copper line networks to high -speed options.
Through Verizon, the new fiber optic service will be mainly around Midwest, though coverage will arrive in California, Texas and Florida. Frontier users will join Verizon’s offer. However, we do not believe how it will look, because of the Frontier Fiber and Verizon fuses projects are different at speeds and prices.
“This transaction will build a new infrastructure of billions of dollars in communities across the country, including rural United States,” said Brandon Car, chairman of the commission.
Verizon pledged to abolish DEI policies as part of approval. Earlier this year, the car criticized Verizon for not making progress on the collapse of the DEI.
A Verizon representative did not immediately respond to the comment.
‘This is a huge thing’
“It is a big deal that the second and third largest fiber in the country is stable,” said Joe Sopon, the principal of CNET. “They don’t have too much overlap in coverage, so this is not a situation where many people will have a low Internet provider to choose.
The Sopan is adopting the attitude of waiting and watching the details of the deal.
“The FCC claims that the Verizon deal will deploy fiber in a million new homes a year as a result of the deal, but when I see it, I will believe it,” he said. “It will be a huge investment of infrastructure, and it is expected that $ 42.5 billion (broadband equity, access, and deployment) will already be emphasized on fiber in favor of satellite in the program.”
