    • Some controller processing besides Bluetooth means that you don’t have to insert your phone

    • Software now provides access to emulators for retro games

    • Much better than the spine and other “flat” controllers, aergonomic grip

    • The back buttons

    • Expensive, especially if you need to purchase

    • Can still use USB (now both controllers and phone) to charge, no audio

    • Many features, including unified game hub and launcher, emulators, direct streaming and more needed $ 40 Annual Subscripts

A game controller to rule all of them? Not yet, but the backbone pro is based on this path and covers a considerable extent – an optional subscription to $ 40 a year to bring the essential features of the $ 170 price tag (thanks to you).

I tested the iPhone version of the app. Android is coming.

The original-and still available-ladder is designed to run with just one phone, which eliminates the need for built-in wireless or batteries. Pro has its own Bluetooth radio and batteries, so it can work freely like a normal Bluetooth controller. For Pro, the spinal cord describes the original function as a “handheld format”, which distinguishes Bluetooth as a “wireless mode”.

This is a practical difference between the two controllers. Both were also significantly designed to adjust the new capabilities and make it more advanced, both originally designed. Sorry, old iPhone owners, it will only come with the USB-C, not an electric connector (so the iPhone 15 or after). And reducing all this is software, especially its subscription upgrade, spinal cord pulse.

During my premature briefing, Manate Khara, CEO of Backbone, explained his philosophy where his gaming corner was going. “Our theory is that in the future … all of you just have to buy a device and you can play games on any screen. And you may not own a consumer, and you can play forearnite on a TV, because it can only buy TVs, properly, and you can play a game that can play a game on it. What can work, so you can run a device that can work, so you can walk, so you can run a device that can work, so you can run like a gaming market and it really tries to work with a brief bone.

But this is a subscription software that enables it to explain – hardware is good, but there are many competitive controllers – and a very difficult part thanks to the game launcher and all the pieces of service.

    A more traditional, organic design

An issue with the early generation of on -phone controllers, such as Backbone One, was that they were designed to be more and more smaller. This means that feeling and characteristics were often sacrificed. With Pro, the spine tried to keep it short, but restored many of the players’ features, such as your grip, whose grip you could really hold in grip, full -sized thumb sticks, the backback buttons and hall effect stimulation.

The spine also changed the switch type on the Abxy button (from carbon tablet) to calm them instead of clicking the crisp of persons in the old controller. They have a deep journey, which is registered as a slightly responsible for me, but I am a button, so after a while I got their habit. I didn’t feel too late in local sports – actioners like Careen and Heads on the phone – but more than wireless I think I occasionally encountered a break (PK lies on Mac, dead cells on the iPad and more). Bluetooth has become much better, but it is still not perfect. If you have a problem, you can still connect the wired.

The spinal cord is a subtle aergonomic curve in the grip of the supporter, and their large size makes it very comfortable to keep the controller.

    Lauri Grunnon/CNE

The grip offers a solid handheld, and they have a slightly more structure than the spinal cord, but the Xbox is less than the wireless controller, and they feel slightly soft than the other parts of the controller. Beautiful comfortable for long hours of gameplay.

    Backbone-Proz Game-Controller-6931

Since they are thin and the controller is slightly smaller than my addict, I find it difficult to hit the left and right buttons fast in sports where they are actively used for gameplay (as just contrary to the menu and so on).

    Lauri Grunnon/CNE

I am not crazy about the left and right buttons – because the controller and the buttons sizing because I have to worry about using them without thinking about them – which makes the back buttons so useful to me. It is a bit difficult to stop accidental activation, but not so hard that I can’t walk them with weak fingers (my fingers) so I re -prepared them as default in the software.

If the back button is necessary, like me, find the left and right buttons weird to run fast.

    Lauri Grunnon/CNE

He said, they are still slightly bigger than people with spinal cord, as are stimulants, and still relatively click. However, I have mixed feelings about the motivations. They have found a relatively deep bridge, which can be great for the purpose of the purpose but not as responsible as I like for shooting. The software allows you to set virtual trigger stops and dead zones (as well as Joyce Stick Deadson), but without a physical stop it is only partially effective for me. But if you want to try it, you’ve got control.

    Spinal Pro-Game-Controller-7036

Although the spinal spinal cord does not rub the lenses on the iPhone Pro Max, it covers it (I believe it is a telephone).

    Lauri Grunnon/CNE

The Bluetooth pair for the audio on the left grip is a dedicated button and analog jack and on the right is USB-C charging. In addition to charging batteries in the controller, it can charge your phone, and when it charges from your phone, it charges the controller’s battery. (The spinal cord ranks battery in 40 hours, but I removed it somewhat faster on the first charge. Now it is getting more slowly.) But like a backbone, you can’t use the USB-C port for audio, video or data.

    Spinal Pro-Game-Controller-6943

There are Bluetooth pair button and analog jack for audio on the left grip.

    Lauri Grunnon/CNE

When you connect the controller with another device but the phone is connected, it gives you a choice of which device you want to control. But once you’ve set a profile by phone – I wish it was possible to dizziness through the profiles in the hardware so that the phone doesn’t have to be necessary – you might want to remove it. For example, when I went to the backbone app using a touch screen, he disconnected Bluetooth.

Like one, the pro comes with the adapter to adjust the size of a different type of phone.

    Software and $ goods

Freeback bone software provides some basic abilities that you mostly meet with mobile controllers, although it includes “you can use it” and includes the most basic things like button mapping (this refers to the system settings for the iPhone). Everything else requires $ 40 annual subscription, which means you can spend $ 210 for Pro. One month is a free trial.

In addition to the spinal cord, subscription offers a lot. In addition, what you had earlier received for the spinal cord-such as streaming, chat, a united game launcher, support-backed games and emulators for the support-bike bone for a united game launchers, fractures and immunists, and pro-pro, game profiles and dead zone/trigger stop settings based on each game.

    Spinal cord Pro-Gam-Controller-7004

The backbone app now connects Rome and Retro Games.

    Lauri Grunnon/CNE

It facilitates you to save various device connection in the app easy to switch (called “Flow State”), which is one of the most excellent aspects of the software specific to Pro. For example, once I made my iPad, I later had to go to the list of pairing devices and select the contact and control. You can also choose the profile you want to use. Then, remove the phone from the controller.

It’s just as smooth as I’ve ever seen, and when it is not, it’s due to Byzantine methods that you have to compile on Apple Devices or how services work – to play web app shortcut Xbox cloud gaming and Jeffor is now painful log in.

I usually like the software, but I wish there was an option to turn off audio by scrolling through the game thumbnases, which auto play. If you are sensitive to the sound (in a neurodeversion manner), then it is like a cat as if you are walking in your brain, you grab it with its claws. I had to silence my phone to browse. I am ironic that the company re -designed buttons to work more quietly, but the software is still noisy.

    Backbone-Proz Game-Controller-7030

The backbone app allows you to find a dead zone as well as test them in practice.

    Lauri Grunnon/CNE

Claims of compatibility may also be confused. For example, Backbone claims he can act as an Xbox controller, but the console has no Bluetooth support: you have to use Remote play Or cloud gaming, which are not always possible. In my case, the remote play is not supported by the formation of my network – Double nut Setup. None of them are under the control of the spinal cord, but the backbone can affect Pro Pro experience.

Hardware is forced if you like the concept of an on-phone controller or want to break your Bluetooth gaming a little to break-you don’t have to subscribe to it-but this is certainly not in the mind of the budget that you can find a lot of alternatives for a part of the price. If you play on devices equipped with a lot of Bluetooth, while, and ready to exit for another membership, Backbone Pro is probably the best option.
