Go back 8 or 9 years and the idea of a foldable phone was incredibly interesting. It was a phone that could connect itself, which could effectively make itself smaller.
However, the reality of foldable phones was not enough there.
They were most expensive than most other phones, and there was nothing close to performance that people are asked to pay. Significantly, seven years after the first foldable phone is released, it has changed rarely.
So it is not surprising that Samsung allegedly reduced the production of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 by 40 %. Apparently Samsung Is not the only company To face such decisions.
But my question is, if the sales of foldable phones are bad enough to guarantee such a tough cut, why is Samsung still moving forward with foldable (and probably more expensive) folds like the galaxy G fold?
Foldable phone problem

The main problem with foldable phones is not that they are bad phones. In fact, it is just a brief glimpse of our studies of the best foldable phones to see them.
Foldable phones give you the option to keep you in less space, either with a clam shell style, or a book-style design that reduces the tablet-shaped device in a friendly form of pocket-which does not need to be taken around.
The biggest problem is the price tag. The new book -style foldables usually start at 7,700, or regularly double the price of non -folding flagship. It is prohibited, even if you spread this cost over many years, and many people beyond access.
Climp Shell Foldables does not have such a highly -cost tag, but even the cheapest models, such as the Motorola Razer 2025, still cost several hundred dollars. And for this price, you are more familiar with the other major problems with many foldables-lacking real equality with non-folding devices.

Things have improved a lot in recent years, and foldable phones are approaching other flagship devices to offer similar sunglasses. But not enough, and Samsung’s 200 MP camera lens is a great example of this.
For the first time in 2023, the Galaxy S33 was released on ultra, 200 MP lens has been a clear absence from the Z -Fool series in the years later. So far, the lens has appeared only on the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which had a limited release last year. Each other Z -Fold Camera has ended at 50MP.
So not only foldable owners have lost 200 MP photography, but they have also lost the main lens of 108MP who debuted on the Galaxy S20 ultra. This will change in rumors, indicated to come to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with 200 MP lens, but this does not change the fact that foldables are left behind for their entire existence.
It is difficult to justify spending on a foldable level of money when the non -folding models are more offered. And so far it seems that it reflects how foldables are being sold. In 2023, only foldable phones were 1.6 % of the global mobile market share – a personality that predicted a 5 % increase in 2028. They are probably selling them better, but that doesn’t mean they are selling well.
Why is the Galaxy G -fold coming?

When you look at the problems that are really sold to Foldable, it surprises you why Samsung is making even G -Fold in the first place. If a typical double -screen foldable phone is having trouble selling, why double and make even more extravagant versions?
Maybe I’m missing something, but I can’t see a time where G -folds do not have all the problems like Z -Fold – but increased to 11.
The second occupation of the foldable display and the third class will not make the price cheaper. With the Galaxy Z Fold 6 starting at $ 1,900, and the tri -fold Huawei Mate XT price is close to 000 3,000, G -folds can easily be Samsung’s first most expensive phone to date.

If you have to spend all this money on a new phone, then this price tag is needed to be able to justify. In such a way that the current wave of foldable phones is not really capable of widespread.
At least this phone will need a camera, performance and battery life equal to the Galaxy S25 ultra, which does not mention all other additional features such as fast charging, S pen support, and Q2 wireless charging. I can’t say whether this will happen or not, but Samsung’s previous efforts in Foldable do not fill me with much confidence.
When this comes up, it is a phone that has incredibly niche -target audiences – more than a normal foldable phone. To the point where Samsung cannot seriously expect that many G -Fold phones will sell.
It may explain the notifications that this may not be widely available like Z Fold Devices.
Down line

I have some doubts about the standard that the galaxy G -Fold must be presented. We have been a long time since the destructive launch of the original galaxy fold, and I refuse to believe that Samsung will make similar mistakes once again. Whatever errors can be eliminated, I expect the G -Folds to be a well -built foldable that lives up to the galaxy fold name.
Foldable phones do not sell along non -folding phones, and there are some concrete reasons why people want to avoid them. Throwing an additional folding screen into the mix magically, people are not going to jump on a large number of band wagon. Especially if the price is the one that everyone fears it can be.
It surprises me whether Samsung is actually making a phone to earn a phone, or if it is all exercises in PR, so Samsung can maintain some boasting rights and show that it will not be eliminated by Chinese rivals.
Referring to the rumors that Samsung can release the Galaxy G Fold later this year, we may not have long been to wait and see how it is going.
