- Google is working on a new ‘expression’ version of material design, which is expected to be revealed in Google I/O 2025 in the coming weeks.
- We have seen and activated this new expression theme in the Google Services settings page within Android settings.
- It is included in the growing list of apps that, after its launch, is ready to adopt the 3 -expressive theme.
During the months, we have seen many indicators that show that Google is working on a new ‘expression’ version of the material design. We have also brought the large UI over hall for Android as a whole and even the big new design of the Android settings app, all of these new content 3 express the theme. As part of the change, now we have re -designed the ‘expression’ of Google Play settings, and joined the growing list of apps that will adopt the new design language.

With Google Play Services V25.17.31, we managed to activate the next Express design UI elements within Google Services settings. These screenshots show that the future will look like Android, possibly with Android 16 QPR 1 or even with Android 17.

As you can see, the handle has many prominent switches with X or checkmark icon. Settings entries are also kept in more separated cards, and in many places the bold is used openly.

Despite the design refresh, not every page in Google Play Settings will look like this. Use some sub -pages, such as connected apps and play games, web views, and so it is not possible to the theme until Google also points to the web pages.

Once again, note that this ‘expression’ design is not yet alive. We do not know when Google will go straight with this design. However, we have seen indications that Google plans to introduce a new ‘expression’ version of material design in Google I/O this month. After introducing the design, the expression of all Google apps can be considered safely to re -design.
