Today, I am talking to Paul Baskobert, who is the President of Writers, the news and information service you have undoubtedly heard. This is a part of a special series on Thursday that we are running this month to find out how the leaders of the world’s largest companies make decisions in such a rapidly changing environment. You know, Decoader Stock
Writers is a huge company to start for us, as it has been mainly forever. The company was founded in 1851, when the new type of media was a hot technology telegraph, and the whole concept of “wire service” was a wild new idea.
Here, today in 2025, the tech driving media has clearly changed a bit. There is a really different proposal to distribute the media 50 years before the invention of radio distributed in the iPhones and Generative AI. This is a very different suggestion now than just 20 or 30 years ago in the Web 1.0 ERA.
There is a lot of, and you will hear us listening to us in the main Decoader The theme is there. For example, I and I spent a lot of time talking about how a heritage organization, as a writer, could be looking for the audience and succeed in the current digital media period, which dominates social platforms. The audience is no longer reading the newspapers, and I am not sure that the next generation of news users will visit the websites. So Reuters are doing a lot of work to make sure Her The work can find and reach new audiences.
Decoader The audience, who is familiar with our other episodes with media leaders, knows how I am very interested in how productive AI is going to change the news business. And how big media companies are thinking about licensing their content to AI companies, living in legalization with these companies, or even working with them to produce new types of products.
Paul had many interesting ideas here, as Reuters mainly always have licensed content arrangements, because really, this is a wire service. According to Paul, he and AI and AI are clean in way to think about training data. I really pushed it really hard to get a severe number, so I think you will really enjoy behind.
