Leadup in Android 16 has been interesting. We have four beta in the update rollout, and with each new beta version issued, public changes are modest and something else. However, there were more important changes under the hood, which suggested that Android 16 would be more significant than expected initially.

Now, this point has never been true.

Android Authority Recently, a widespread design hidden in Android 16 Beta 4 was revealed. This is part of Google’s new Material 3 Expressive design language. What we are now seeing is the initial version of it, but nevertheless, I have already been sold for this new vision and the future for Android as we know.

What do you think about the new design of Android 16?

Old vs. New Quick Setting Panel Design in Android

In the basic part of it, this new design for Android 16 is largely that we have in Android 15. Basic principles such as instant settings, lock screen, and settings app work as expected, but how are all of them where things are different.

What I like about this design is particularly the new emphasis on Google’s Bloor. Almost wherever you look, the background, which was previously solid, now has a blurred effect – and it is beautiful.

Your quick settings page, for example, is a transparent place of the Stark Black background that fades to your home screen or any app you are using, making it an effect on a beautiful frosting glass. The app drawer is the same. Instead of solid color for the background, now it has the same fading design. It has also been seen on the recent apps page and the lock screen pin interface.

What Google is working here with Android 16 is an important leap forward.

Clearly, this is not the first time we have seen this type of design language. Other Android skins (such as oxygenosis 15 of One Plus) have already blurred elements of such fading, and they look unusual. Especially when the good system is folded with dynamic images (some oxygenosis 15 on Excel), the transfer of this matte pin and the transfer increases a level of reaction that sounds great to communicate.

Although I don’t think the current design language in Android 15 is bad, the thing that Google is working with here with Android 16 is an important lip forward. It gives Android a future and polished aesthetic that is currently not present, and I cannot wait to raise my hand.

Beyond the fading design, there are other, small UI changes that are also happy to see me. Settings add new color icons in the app to some of the most essential visual moods and at a glance help organize relevant settings options. The slight change on the lock screen and the weather space is more clear than before, and I also like new volumes and brightly sliders.

The more I see the re -design of Android 16, the more I feel like a baby in the candy store. For the first time in the years, it is a lot of fun to see such a new pin in Android, and it has awaited me for an Android update in the same way as I haven’t done in a long time.

    A large and significant risk

As Google’s hardware has improved in recent years, its software has been relatively stable. The last time we received the Android UI re -design of this scale was with Android 12 in 2021. That same year, Google launched the Pixel 6 series, and the difference between Pixel 6 and Pixel 9 is unacceptable. However, comparing Android 12 with Android 15, playing a difficult game of difference. It has certainly gained new features, but it looks largely the same.

Although Android 16 should work today as Android 15 does today, Google plays a long journey to make everything a fresh coat of paint and make it big and different. And it doesn’t just change for it. Even in this early version, it is evident that Google has developed a clear, specific design language. Is this polarizing? May be. But this is what I wanted out of Android 16.

This is what I wanted out of Android 16.

In a world where new smartphone releases are getting more and more, it is becoming increasingly less than a fresh and interesting thing. I am still a huge smartphone boy, but when the new Motorola Razr Plus is close to the last year’s model, it is difficult to care. It is normal to play a safe, and we look at it not only from the motorla, but also from Samsung, Apple, and even Google.

Google is making a large bet with Android 16. It may have kept the design exactly the same, but instead, we are getting the most changing Android UI update in four years. Change is dangerous, but also how we move towards big and better things.

There is a lot to open this new design, and the good news is that we should learn a lot about it next month at the Android show and then at Google I/O. If it looks good in Android 16’s new UI already in a hidden, incomplete state, I can’t wait to see what the final version looks like.
