A few days ago, Honor unveiled the Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro and the pair went on sale in China earlier this week. We have confirmation from Honor itself that the Magic 8 series will also be available globally, though we don’t have concrete details yet. Will you buy the Magic 8 or the Magic 8 Pro?
The two new models boast the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Another common upgrade is the new AI button. The 2025 models also have significantly larger batteries than their predecessors, though both phones are smaller than their Magic 7 series counterparts.
Honor Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro
Let’s look at the Honor Magic 8 Pro first. It has a 6.71″ OLED display, down from 6.8″ on last year’s model. However, the battery is 7,200mah for the Chinese unit and 6,270mah and 6,270mah for the European one (versus 5,850mah and 5,270mah).
The main camera still features a 50MP 1/1.3″ sensor, but the F/1.4-2.0 aperture has been replaced by a fixed F/1.6 aperture. On the plus side, the telephoto camera’s 200MP 1/1.4″ sensor is now paired with a longer 3.7x lens, from 3x

Honor Magic 8 Pro
The Honor Magic 8 is in a similar situation – it has a 6.58” OLED display, down from 6.78, while packing a larger 7,000 mAh battery.
The camera has seen a downgrade as the 50MP main now has a smaller 1/1.56″ sensor, while the Magic 7 has matched its Pro sibling at 1/1.3. The telephoto module was also changed, with a 64MP sensor instead of 50MP, but it remains at the same 3x magnification.
