When we talk about Google Search in 2025, this is usually not done for a good reason. Especially despite not being good, AI’s reviews are found more than ever. Google plays a massive (extremely flawed) AI for consumers in May, and Google’s traditional traditional traditional experience is disastrous with advertising and low quality results.

Following the preferred sources of soft launch as a feature of search labs earlier this year, Google has just played a widespread role for all users of the United States and India. Priority Sources Allow Google to tell you which website you prefer to read, customize your search results so that the links to these preferred websites are more and more often.
On paper, it looks almost good to be true. However, after examining its self -preferred sources, I am here to tell you that it actually works, and it is like a game changer.

How to start with preferred sources

Finding and using priority sources is very easy, though if you do not know where to look, it can be easy to miss. To start, open Google search and look for any recent news title. I am using Pixel 10 for this example, but it can be anything.
Once you will do it, just work the following:
- After looking for a recent news topic in Google Search, tap it The icon of preferred sources On the right of the “high stories” section.
- Tap Search bar And type a website name or site’s URL name you want to add.
- Tap Check the box Next to your preferred site.
- Once selected, tap Reload the results Near the bottom of the screen.
It will refresh Google search with your preferred sources. As you can see in the above screenshots Android Authority The story of Pixel 10 is now the first result of the stories above. Forbes The article, as shown in the first screenshot.
And it’s just that! You can review the tab of preferential sources at any time to add or remove the websites as needed, and there is no limit to how many sources you can add.

That way you have arranged preferred sources, but once you have created this feature, what do you like to use Google Search? I spent about two minutes to customize my preferred source list, add 10 websites, including tech posts to general news sources and some local news sites.
In practice, preferential sources do exactly as I hoped it would happen. For example, the quick search of “One Plus 15” highlighted one Android Authority The article in front of the top stories section (and the name of the website as well as the seeds of a priority source are also marked). There are also articles from other sites, but Android Authority There is a front and center.
If you look for a title with more resonance around it, your preferred sources are presented in different ways. Looking for “Pixel 10 News” shows the stories up again. Android Authority The article in it, though it is shown as the results of the number three rather than the first number. However, when you are scrolling, you will find a “section” section with a news article specially from the sites included in the list of your favorite sources. It does not always appear in the search results, but when that happens, it is a good touch.
Beyond tech news, priority sources also work for other search questions. The articles from my preferred websites in search of “Michigan News” are shown as the top three results of the stories above, as well as from your source section below.
When looking for “Detroit Lines” I saw the same setup. Crosal’s top stories included two articles from my favorite sources, once again with your source tab.
Priority sources do not Only Show articles from you selected websites, but it makes them permanently more visible. And in a world where Google’s search results appear to be worse day, what you see has some real control over what you see.

Clearly, priority sources are not perfect. Although I have been able to add all the websites I want, one of the local news stations I want to follow is not a selective option. Google notes that “sources cannot be updated regularly, they cannot be available,” but considering the news station, publishing articles daily, there is no reason why it should not be available.
I have also noticed that priority sources about displaying your source section may be tight. For any reason, it appears exactly when looking “Pixel 10 News”, but does not appear with the “Pixel 10” or “Google Pixel 10” search. And when it is so easy to customize the preferred sources, it is a bit disturbing to find something first. I too would love to see it included somewhere in the Google app settings.

But even despite these complaints, I am still happy that there are priority sources. With features such as AI review, AI mode, and AI summary in Google Discovery, almost all of these features were made with the intention of limiting your interaction with real posts.
Not only do preferred sources provide you with real and important control over your Google search results, but it also sheds an important light on reading the articles of human authors and the publication of you. This is a very opposing feature that you will expect to see from an IIFArid Google in 2025.
Google Search users are now developing priority sources in the United States and India. If you use Google and live in any of these countries, I cannot recommend priority sources. This is really one of the best features of Google Search that I’ve seen in a while.
