Meta’s threads app has now reached more than 400 million monthly active users, as has been confirmed by Instagram chief Adam Mouseri. He described the two -year journey from “Zen Idea to a platform” to compete with Twitter, which encourages “open exchange of approach”.

The thread launched in July 2023 and became one of the fastest growing apps ever, which earned 100 million users in five days. However, the initial user’s engagement was substantially substantially after the launch. However, there was a strong progress: 175 million mouse by mid -2024, 300 million by December 2024, and 350 million by April 2025.

Although threads have gained significant benefits, it is still behind the X (formerly Twitter), which is estimated to be 600 million monthly active users. X’s wider users, interior communities, and long -standing influence still provide it on one edge. However, mobile use data shows that thread is reducing space. Meta has also tilted her integration with Instagram, which allows users to advance their current friends.

In the last two years, enmity between threads and x has intensified. Under the ownership of X, Elon Musk, controversial changes have been made, such as the moderation of pay -wolf features and loose materials, which some people say have forced users to find alternatives. Threads have tried to take advantage of it by positioning themselves as a quiet, more prepared space for conversation. Nevertheless, critics said it would have to find its voice to avoid seeing it as a “Instagram with the text”.

Meanwhile, rivals like Bluesky also entered the picture. In support of Twitter co -founder Jack Dorsie, Bluesky has emphasized on decentralization and user control, and using AT protocols can allow people to transfer their accounts between the platform. Although its user base is very small-which is estimated to be more than 10 million-it is gaining traction between users who want freedom from major corporate-owned networks. Other niche platforms, such as Mustoden, continue to attract small but loyal communities.

Killing 400 million users is an important milestone, but that number is just a part of the story. Maintaining, user satisfaction, and a separate identity of the platform will be more important than raw signup data. Threads contain resources and logistics, but even if they can stop their place in a crowd, changing the social media scenario is a real test.
