Like the TV screen static, like the VHS tape recrending, or the rotation of butter, the greeting sound of the AOL dial -up internet will soon be a matter of past.

Since the company easily describes its support website, “dial -up internet should be turned off.” By September 30, the site notes, “This service and its affiliated software, AOL Dialer software and AOL Shield browser, will be closed for old operating systems and dial -up internet connection.”

This is not good news for people who still rely on dial -ups, mainly in the US rural areas and where broadband is not available. The 2019 census data revealed that 265,331 people completely rely on the internet.

“We are closing the dial -up internet service component involved in some Ligacea AOL advantage, composer, and Net Skip Connect projects.” He said in a statement. “This change does not affect many other valuable products and services that these users are capable of accessing and enjoying as part of their projects. Our users also have no effect on the free AOL email accounts.”

For these AOL users still using dial -ups, Yahoo! Can provide location -based alternative contact solutions.

The dial -up was a famous voice of the rise of beeps and whistles with the Internet, the 1990s.

For example, users who lose their dial -up service will be able to access one of the several alternatives: DSL (Digital Subscriber Line), Cable, Fiber Optic (FTH), Wireless Internet (such as 5G) or satellite.

    They were the days

The OOL echoed the Reddate by eliminating its dial -up service, many of the chaters surprised that there was still dial -up in this period of high -speed Internet, and the other 56 suffered old memories about “good OL” day of BPS speed.

On a thread, the poster listner remembered that “when I spent a whole night (1997) to download the Batman and Robin trailer, my parents turned into infinite.”

The Reddater Alorsnax remembers that “it took eight hours” in downloading the Rob Zombie Music Video, “Never Stopping.”

Another poster, Arshofbscht, said that “cautiously planned” to download 60 MBPC Game Demo – “Downloading the evening began long enough that we would not expect that he would not expect any call on the landline, and so quickly that I could not download it without downloading it.
