About a month ago, Google started doing something long for the OS wearing: Finally, it began to replace Google Assistant with Gemini. As incomplete, Gemini is a really powerful tool. More importantly, Google Assistant Wear OS has been showing its age for some time.
I have been testing Gemini for two weeks on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 classic. In addition to using it for daily tasks, I have been comparing it on another watch with Google Assistant.
In straight words, the difference between Gemini and Google Assistant on the dress OS is not near.

Gemini is already ahead of Google Assistant

I spent some time comparing Gemini to Galaxy Watch 8 Classic to Google Assistant on Pixel Watch 3, and in the first two pairs I asked both assistants, it immediately showed how much Gemini was capable.
Thanks for smoking from Canada’s forest fire, the air quality index (AQI) has been in Michigan Bad Recently, external exercise is not always a good idea. I asked Gemini and Google Assistant, “Is it safe to run out with the current air standards near me?” Gemini found the exact AQI where I live in Michigan, with the explanation that people suffering from respiratory problems should avoid or restrict their external activity.
What was the answer to Google Assistant? A simple but non -helper “sorry, I didn’t understand.” For an excellent start!

Well, let’s try to do something else. Next, I asked, “What time do I see the weapon on Friday?” Gemini pulled me from the Google Calendar to tell me that I was watching the movie at 6:40 pm, while Google Assistant made me another “sorry, I don’t understand.”
Google Assistant finally showed admission to the calendar, but just then when I specifically asked, “What’s in my calendar for Friday?” The ability to talk more naturally than Gemini may not feel like anything on paper, but in practice, it can be very easy.
By changing gears on a more basic question of Google Search, I asked both watches, “Do the lions play the bill in the season of 2025?” Gemini told me that lions and bills were not facing each other during the 2025 NFL season. Google Assistant, once again, did not understand the question.

Even when Google Assistant answers such questions, it is not as helpful as Gemini offers. In another test, I asked both Smart Watch, “Who is actually the main actress I know what you did last summer?” Gemini provided a comprehensive response, while Google Assistant offered unnecessary explanation of the film plot. The answer was there, but it also had a lot of extra flour.
There is no doubt that Gemini is a valuable upgrade compared to Google Assistant.
For basic orders, such as asking about the weather, controlling smart home devices, and working almost similar to the timers, gymnasium and Google Assistant work. But this happens when you go beyond the most simple orders that shine Gemini.
Whether it has the ability to better understand the context of specific gestures (such as weapons examples) or find answers to more complex questions, there is no doubt that Gemini is a valuable upgrade compared to Google Assistant.

All this said, Gemini is not perfect. Although Google is reasonably better than the assistant, Gemini still has the potential for improvement. All of the things I want to see better, I think the place I need to start Google is with the accuracy of the answer.
Just as on the mobile app and the desktop site, Gemini on wear OS is in a hurry to provide an answer for something, but this answer is not always correct. For example, I asked Gemini, “What time are the weapons playing in the celebration cinema on Friday?” He confidently gave a list of shows for 2: 17 pm, 5:15:15 pm, 8:15 pm, and 9:40 pm (Plus 6:55 pm and 10:00 pm IMAX Showsing).
On the level, this answer looks fine. However, when I checked it from the Movie Theater website, I realized that the flat out was wrong. Despite my show -time explanation for Friday, Gemini gave me the show time for Thursday (and cheated IMAX people).
Although this is the only thing that is “broken” with Gemini on the wear OS, there are some other things I want to see if I want to add Added to further improve.

The first is a strong UI for Gemini. After asking any questions from Gemini, you can ask follow-up questions in the context of your current conversation-for example, asking, “When do you play next time?” Then “Who is their quarterback?” However, the problem is that each new answer has no option to see your previous questions/answers within this conversation.
The current UI Smart Watch’s small screen works well for real estate, but I love the ability to have a more traditional gymnasium interface, as is available on the Android app. I have also seen that the questions you find from Gemini do not appear on the recent chat page on the Gemini app and the website. This contract is not going to break, but I like the option to show them there.
My last request is a simple but important: offline commands. This makes sense that Gemini needs to connect to my phone for an internet connection to see things on Google Search. However, why does it need to compile timers, start a stop watch, or create a reminder? Some such basic offline commands will move ahead, and I hope Google is working.

Even despite these flaws, Gemini has been a overall positive experience on the dress OS. Is that perfect? No, but is it a valuable upgrade compared to Google Assistant? Undoubote
Although I’m not using Gemini on my smart watch for the same wide questions for which I use Gemini on my computer, the freedom to answer any question on my wrist – and the ability to ask more naturally than these questions – is very incredible.
