The Google Pixel 10 series is just a few weeks away, and I’m waiting deeply to see what these new phones offer. One of the most interesting and permanent rumors is that the base model will have a telephoto camera, but what will happen to pro phones?
It seems that Google Pixel can maintain a 48MP 5X camera shown in the 9 Pro Series. However, a number of combined marketing materials by veteran Lakes Ivan Blas has revealed that Pixel 10 Pro phones can get 100x zoom. I am not sure this feature is more than a marketing stunt, and you should not.
Why should you be careful with the 100x zoom of Pixel 10 Pro?
Apparently the marketing screenshot (viewed above) suggests that the Pixel 10 Pro Range can offer “Pro Race Zoom” up to 100x. It is unclear whether it refers to the zoom capabilities or cloud -powered zoom smart. There is no word here if it applies to photos, videos, or both.
Although it is clear that nowadays 100x zoom is slightly higher than a trick, and there is little reason to believe that Google will change things. Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra was the first person to offer this feature in 2020, thanks to the 48MP 4x Percycopy camera, and it was mostly wasted. After that we have seen large telephonic sensors, wider apertures, more megapixels, and more powerful image processing hardware. But leave phones such as Galaxy S25 Ultra and Google Pixel 9 Pro -XL 50X, drop 100x long ago. Don’t believe me? Well, fellow Rob Trigs tested a quarter of the phone at 10x and 30x earlier this year, and thought that Samsung and Google Phone are the worst actors. It is not good for the Pixel 10 Pro image processing on 100x.

Vivo, Honor, and Xiaomi have issued a phone call with 200 MP PercOP cameras in the past two years, and 100 X photos taken with these devices are not upgraded to the game. Check the shots below, compare the Galaxy S25 Ultra to Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Galaxy S24 from Vivo X 100 Ultra.

Although many flagship phones offer stability properties for long -distance zoom, the first set of images shows that keeping the viewpinder stable is difficult to keep on 100x. As far as the original image quality is concerned, the image of Xiaomi 15 Ultra avoids the horrible fringe that is visible in the Samsung shot, so supplying clean edges. However, this image still offers a very contradictory look and noise lack that wipes in detail. These 200 MP cameras can capture a more specified image in the long range, as seen in the crane shot, which allow you to identify specific elements in a scene. It can work for leakage purposes, but these images are useless for Instagram.
Can AI help Google?
I have also seen manufacturers, such as Xiaomi, Honor, Vivo, and OnePlus, to fill the space at 100x. However, this process is brutally different from the phone brand and the subject matter. AI -based zoom can work well with simple structure (eg, buildings), but often struggles with complex textures such as people and plants and mountains. Fellow Ryan Hans praised the AI -based zoom for long -range of OnePlus 13, noting that even 120x shots may look decent (see the first shot below). However, the other 120x samples show how bad things can be found.

Meanwhile, Rob Trigs praised Oppo’s X8 Pro’s AI-Assisted Long Range Zoom, though up to 60x. On the other hand, he criticized the Honor Magic 7 Pro’s AII camera zoom, which added elements to his 30x landscape scene, such as additional branches, trees and additional buildings (see comparisons below). I also saw that the Vivo X200 ultra would remove some elements in the X -30x Snap, such as balcony railing. Who needs them anyway?

Google has also argued with AI to improve the zoom, as it started the Zoom Anemis feature last year. This tool allows you to return to an image after reality and zooms for a high quality crop image. However, our comments were combined decisively in our Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL studies, because we often believed that this was just excessive pictures. So I do not have much hope that if Google just adopts this tech, the Pixel 10 Pro Series can take 100x shots.
Google’s AI should help, but don’t expect miracles

I am sure Google’s software smart pixel 10 pro phones will help get better 100x results. The company already offers amazing camera tricks such as super races zoom, EdMe feature, Astro photography format, and face non -blur. And some of these basic technologies can improve 100x images. But would you like to share these photos with people? Yes, I’m not betting it. Royal phones show us that 100x zoom is slightly better in 2025, but still not good, so it is difficult to see Google better.
I hope Google proves me wrong, though, and that 100x Pro Race Zoom is a huge upgrade in the long distance zoom. But history tells us that when we talk about the camera zoom, we should not take the smartphone brands on their word.
