Once again, a new rumor claims that Apple’s first foldable iPhone will use the crease -free folding screen developed by the Samsung display. In fact, Apple had no input in the panel design, it is all Samsung on it – and it is worth noting how rare it is, because Apple usually likes to customize every part used in its devices.
Not at the moment, though, and because of the alleged foldable iPhone’s “stable mass production”, intended to reach the second half of the next year. A custom display solution may not have achieved the same output that the Samsung display can offer with its design.
Apple’s decision to go everywhere with the crease -free solution of the Samsung Display will benefit the latter suppliers, including Fine M Tech, an important provider of internal occupation, which is a famous source of apple -related information from the supply chains. According to him, Fine M-Take will have 80 % of this section supply (or more).
Internal occupation crease is a key part of the free folding screen, as it prevents the metal plate display material from exceeding its flexibility, helping to divide and control bending tensions. Kovo says that the possibility of crazing is reduced. All of these works, the metal plate should be extremely connected with the display design, and the same is done by the Samsung display and the excellent M Tech.
For Apple’s folding iPhone, laser drilling will be used to create micro -structures that better guide the distribution of stress and improve the crease resistance. Fine M Tech should start shipping display metal plates for foldable iPhone in the first quarter of next year, unit prices are apparently in the limit of $ 30-35.
The shipment is expected to reach 13-15 million units in 2026, but these are not the number of sales expected for the iPhone fold – they will be less, more plates need to be prepared compared to the original iPhone folds due to production losses and stock needs.
