HMD has made Nokia phone under a license since 2016.
The HMD Global, which has been known for licensing the Nokia brand for new phones and tablets over the past decade, has announced that it will “scale” its US operations, and it seems that it has completely stopped selling both HMD and Nokia devices.
The evacuation was confirmed in a statement by which the joint was described WiredJulian acknowledges the threads, and recognizes the “a challenging geographical political and economic environment”, which seems to be a polite way to say “taxes”.
Although the HMD statement does not confirm full departure from the US market, its website tells a different story. The HMD web store is no longer online, and the product pages do not give any information to buy, or it has a “where to buy” button that is not active, despite the fact that some handets from Amazon and other retailers are still available to buy.
HMD told Chowkato that it will continue to honor “warranty coverage and services for existing products, which will be handled by the company’s global support teams.” As far as US employees are concerned, the company has not confirmed the details of any job loss, but says it is “committed to supporting (US staff) during this transition.” We have reached HMD for comment.
Finland -based HMD was created in 2016 to purchase the Nokia feature phone business from Microsoft, resulting in the purchase of a sick brand in 2014. It also obtained a license to use Nokia on smartphones and tablets, focusing on cheap and mid -hardware.
In 2023 HMD announced plans to launch products under its brand, which has a repairable skyline (which is strangely, left Only With Q2 Support with Android Phone), Barbie Philip Phone and Brand Partnerships such as Hainan Boring Phone. Ever since, Nokia has been sent to the feature phone. Four HMD branded smartphones have been launched in the United States, and no one has come out since the Modular HMD fusion in September 2024, though many other HMD phones have been launched internationally.
Here is the HMD Global statement complete:
“Like many global businesses, HMD is also going to a difficult geographical political and economic environment. After careful consideration, we have decided to overtake our US work.
Our priority is to ensure that our customers and partners are ensuring any obstacles. We will continue to respect all responsibilities, including current product warranty coverage and service, and provide full support through our global teams.
We deeply appreciate the partnership of our US colleagues affected by this change and are determined to help them during this transition.
HMD is focused on long -term growth, in our mainstream business and stronger segments such as family, safe and microfinance.
