The iOS 26 public beta has arrived shortly this month, which has given users of iPhone a chance to see what new skills are coming to their phone before the full release of this fall.
If you have no objection to hiccups and accidents that can be obtained by using any pre -release software, it is a great opportunity to find a sense of what is changing and may also give Apple some feedback on which features need to be fine toning.
This is also an opportunity that Apple has only started providing consumers to a great extent recently.
Don’t give them
Return a decade or more, and the only way to test the iOS version before their final release in the fall was to become an iPhone developer. Apple may have predicted its software release during its annual developer conference, but the original test was removed from the public theory.
It changed with iOS 9, where Apple created a public son for the first time. I remember why I downloaded this son back when … just as I have experienced every public son to release every iOS since then.
That way, I have learned some things about the use of beta software that can work if you decide to try IOS 26 once, once this month Apple makes good to its promise to supply a public beta. With the developer version of the iOS 26, with son 3 arrived tomorrow (July 7), it will no longer have much time until we get a public son – maybe next week.
Of course IOS 26 developer betting does not stop you from downloading. But if you are waiting for a public son to appear, keep these five points in mind as easily as possible to easily move the test experience.
Don’t use your original iPhone if possible

Apple’s public son is usually quite stable, and they are already in the hands of developers for a few weeks. So when you download the iOS public beta, you are not installing non -street software at your phone at all.
He said, normal risks with beta software still apply. If you have found an app on your iPhone that you rely on your daily use, and it doesn’t work easily with beta software, you will not be very happy with the experience. Beta is notorious for removing your battery faster than software, which is tested and tested. That is why I advise anyone to install the son who is trying to backup phone if they have someone available.
For example, I have been running iOS 26 developer beta since Apple released it between WWDC 2025, and this is not installed on the iPhone used as my daily device. Instead, I have obtained this on some other iPhones that I have for testing purposes. I have not contributed to any exhibition issues on these devices, but this has greatly reduced my tension, which does not require any worry about any potential problem caused by my regular phone.
I am fully aware that as a phone reviewer, I have a more unused iPhone than the ordinary person. In fact, explaining how the best phone deals encourage you to trade in your existing device to get the best price on handset, no old iPhone can be available to present you as your test device. Although a public son wanders, it is not necessary to take you out of race to test iOS 26.
If the only phone available to you is in your pocket, I would suggest that Apple’s first public beta wait until the update is released. In this way, you can make sure that other people are not running in major problems that can increase the use of your iPhone.
But some of you can still decide to be careful in the air and install a public son on your only and only iPhone. That’s right – just make sure you leave my next advice.
Before doing something, take back up your iPhone

Whenever you upgrade your phone’s software, you should first make archive backup. But this is especially true when you are about to release a son on your device. Storing recent backups within easy access makes you buy a little insurance, as you should prove the beta unstable.
We have guidelines about taking backup of your iPhone, but basically, if you are taking backup of Macos Catalina or then Maxus Catalina, plug your iPhone into the computer, select your device from the Finder window and click on the backup right now. Fire the Settings app, tap on your name and select the iCloud. From there, tap the backup on the iCloud and then select the backup on the screen then.
If you need to go back to the old version of iOS after installing beta, you need to remove and restore your phone using archive backup. And since you want to go back to the current shipping version of the iOS and not son, you have to make sure the backup is from the last release – iOS 26 son returns to iOS 18. That’s why I recommend back up to the computer so you can control the backup process.
Spend some time to familiarize yourself with liquid glasses

Well, so you have made a backup, you have installed the son and you are ready to find what is new. Which new feature should you test first?
In the case of iOS 26, I will recommend to make myself aware of the interface.
Like other Apple software this year, iOS 26 contains a new liquid glass interface. And while this is not fully re -making the iPhone software format, things will look quite different from the location where you want to walk around before testing a particular feature.
Look at the icons and tools. Consider how many merchants are the menu. Play with icon shedding to see which one works best for you. And above all, swipe from the right corner of your iPhone screen and watch the control center. Parbasi panels are more noteworthy with deep wallpapers, so you want to follow the superiority of your fellow John Velasco, which went into the settings and enabled to reduce transparency in the capable of accessible menu.

Some apps also have more thick tool bars. For example, iOS 26 Safari is a default in a new compact tab design that includes just back button, menu and search bars and more buttons to access things like Book Marks, Tabs and Sharing Options. If you want to look more extended, the bottom tab design gives you more quick access to these options as you did in iOS 18.
Safari is not the only app that has smooth control. You will find them in apps like phone, and if you have an Apple Intelligence device, screenshot controls are different to adjust the new visual intelligence features.
Spending a little time to look around the liquid glass interface will help you in the new form of iOS and they can eliminate the habit of making a new shape.
Indicate the features you want to try

After having the opportunity to see the new interface, select one or two apps to discover in iOS 26 beta more depth. I would prefer to spend time with the apps you use more than anything.
For example, if you always use the messages app, discover changes to the options to filter unknown seals in the background of the new chat from Paul in Apple’s iOS 26 version. If these are images you don’t take too often, you have also found a new interface to discover there, do not mention the ability to convert photos into local images with a tap of the button.
And do not go to this research without a good guide. Apple has the iOS 26 preview page where you can find a list of big new features in each app. And the Tom Guide has also published some guides based on our experience with the iOS 26 developer son. These leaders include:
Give Apple’s feedback
Apple has not kept these public bets just to make people aware of new features before the last release of the software. It is also looking for feedback. And this is something you can provide.
Beta, especially a feedback app. If you do not see its purple icon with a specific point inside the dialogue balloon, just tap the search bar and start typing feedback in the search field.
Apple’s design tweets have already been made in iOS 26 thanks to the opinion of the developer beta. And if you have found an iPhone able to run Apple Intelligence, feedback can also help train AI tools.
Here is an example: I was playing with visual intelligence using a new ability to draw dates from screenshots to make calendar entries. Apple Intelligence was producing an entry at the right time but the wrong date, so I tapped the thumbs down the opinion button that appears with the features of Apple Intelligence in the beta and chose the wrong date from the list of menu options provided. After using this feature in visual intelligence, efforts after using this feature did a lot of work.
Whatever impression you give will not have an immediate effect. But tell Apple what is working and what is not in iOS 26 son will have more polished experience – not only for you, but also for everyone who uses the software.
