- Google is eventually starting to edit the RCS messages sent to iPhones for Android users, a feature that is not available earlier is the cross platform.
- Via through the details of the new Universal Profile 3.0, users can long pressure the message sent to edit and reproduce the 15 -minute window.
- The feature is in a limited test and is not yet perfect, as the modified text currently appears on iPhones as a new message and iPhones cannot edit the messages sent to Android devices.
For years, text messaging between Android and iOS was a terrific experience, but recently has changed thanks to Rich Communication Services (RCS). This new messaging standard dramatically improves the texting between iPhones and Androids by enabling features such as high quality media sharing, reading, and typing indicators. When some features were missing when the cross platform RC launched last year, Google and Apple slowly introduce them. For example, the ability to edit the message sent from Android phone to the iPhone is finally beginning.
The iPhone users have long been able to edit iMessages sent to other iPhones, and Android users have enjoyed the same ability for almost a year when using RCS to message each other. However, when Google first launched this feature on Android, it was not part of the RCS official specification. Since Apple did not specify its implementation on the official quality (Universal Profile 2.4), which did not explain the message editing, this feature was not available for cross -platform chats.
Earlier this year, the GSM Association introduced the Universal Profile 3.0 details, which increases the support of both message editing and ending from the end. During the past week, several users, including me, have gained the ability to edit RCS messages sent to iPhone users. After sending the message, I can put a long pressure on it to display the pencil icon. Taping this icon fills the response to the original text, which allows me to edit and reproduce it.

This feature works for me when sending RCS messages to iPhone users to iOS 18.5 and iOS 26 beta, individual and group chats, within a 15 -minute window, which is currently available to edit Android to Android and iPhone -to -i -art.
Although it looks and works on the expectation of Android, the modified message is currently reflected as a new message through a star on the iPhone. In addition, the iPhone users are not able to edit RCS messages they send to Android users. Apple will probably need to update its messages app to correct the RCS message editing, though there is no word about when it can happen. We hope that the full cooperation to edit the message will come from the end of the cross -platform to the end with the privacy feature that Apple and Google promised to support it earlier this year.
The ability to edit RCS messages sent to iPhone users is not yet widely available in Google Messages. I have seen only two other reports of the feature: one from the Reddate user last week and the other from one of my followers today. Google is probably checking it with beta consumers, so most people will probably have to wait for widespread release.
