Senators Marsha Bulkburn (Ran Ten.), Mike Bloonthl (D), Amy Klobochar (D) Dick Dorbon (DIL) and Mike Lee (R Utah) have re-presented a collection that allows owners of the App Store to receive third-party payment systems like Apple and Google. The bill, called the Open app markets app, was actually introduced in 2021, but it never came to vote after passing the Senate Judicial Committee in 2022.
The Open App Markets Act applies its changes to App Stores with 50,000 monthly users or more, which clearly applies to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Like the original bill, the re -offered open app Markets Act companies want to allow things like seeding, third -party app stores and alternate payment systems, while developers “have the ability to tell consumers about low prices and protect competitive prices.” This will also prevent App Store operators from giving their apps and services privileges in the App Store search results.
