I converted Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max from Google Pixel 3 XL in 2021, and in the years later, I lost Google Hold for myself. This feature is so useful that I am surprised that it has not been brought to an iPhone or even other Android phone in the years after that. Whenever I need to talk to a representative of any business, my health insurance provider, my cellphone carrier or any other adult work, I save me from listening to hold hold music. Instead, the Google feature will help my phone silenced by keeping the call active, listen to the hold music for me and then when it is time to return to the call, informing the representative that I will come back soon.
And likewise at the World Wide Developers Conference 2025, when Apple announced Hold Assist – which looks very similar to me with a pixel hold – I was very excited. I have been in the eyes of the switches back to Android for the Lord Rumor pixel 10Partially because I miss this call for everyday problems. But with iOS 26, Hold Assist should detect hold music, and then give you the option to silence the call by giving you this option. Then, when the representative comes back, the phone will inform you when the time to return on the phone. We will have to wait at least to the public son to try this feature, but on paper, it looks like a pixel feature.
The Hold for May Feature debuted with Pixel 5 and 4A in 2020.
Although I am glad this feature at the end of the iPhone, it is worth indicating that it takes a long time to increase such calling in Google’s pixel line. Google introduced the hold for me in 2020, but most other Android phones manufactured by Samsung, One Plus and others do not add their own option to this idea.
The new feature of call screening for iOS 26 is like the Pixel Call Screen option, but it seems that Apple’s offer will be more automatic. Apple’s call screen will collect information from an unknown collar for you like this person’s name and purpose, and then summarize it to help you decide whether you should pick up. If you are not sure yet you can send more indicators as needed.
In iOS 26, the hold will keep the call active but the phone will be silenced.
The Google solution allows you to choose the questions that are asked by the caller and, instead of summarizing, you see that the call is text transcript.
What I most appreciated by these features is that they remember the iPhone is a phone at the end of the day. And Spam Calls are now like a problem now, especially when AI Voice Clone adds more problems to the scams trying to reach people.
Unless these features are available when iOS 26 arrives later this year, the next time I have to call my health insurance provider, I will continue to bring my patience. And holding your fingers to hold music can be a matter of past when Hold Assist becomes widely available.
