The Trump Organization made headlines last week when it announced the launch of Trump mobile, a cell service that plans to release the gold T -1 phone in September. According to the website, one of its soldiers is that the T -One phone is “proudly made the United States”, though it does not appear that when this phone is launched, this will be the case, other than other issues.

An independent phone maker based in San Francisco, however, is working on a nearly fully manufactured smartphone in the United States: $ 1,999 Liberty Phone. Purism, which has been going on since 2014, says it has a handset, which has a 5.7 -inch screen and operates a proprietary operating system called Puros, mainly made in Texas and California, which has almost all manufacturing and assembly as domestic.

According to its website, the exceptions include Chinese -made chassis and some chip components obtained from China or India. Its main processor is made by Austin based NXP and was actually made for automobiles.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Liberty Phone battery and screen are derived from China and its back -to -face camera is built in South Korea. There is a possibility of this: In case of screens, no American manufacturer is currently a massive smartphone display

In an email to CNET, Porism founder Toddwever said that under the rules of the Federal Trade Commission, the Liberty Phone is sold with the label of “Med in USA Electronics”. Weaver doubts that Trump T -One phone will meet the same standard.

“The FTC takes these claims very seriously and it is my firm belief that the implementation will follow in a timely manner,” said Weiver. “No, you can’t put the American flag on the back cover of gold and certainly not make claims in the United States in the United States.”

The possibility of a US -made phone

Trump Mobile Launch has raised questions as to whether to produce a smartphone in the United States and release it at the cost that most consumers can afford. Almost all modern smartphones are primarily collected in other countries, including China or South Korea, Vietnam or India.

Weaver told the journal that his company sold about $ 650 to the company for less than 100,000 and is not expected to compete with the latest iPhone or Samsung devices.

“To the consumers, this security gaxes, parents who want to phone for their children, elderly people or people who want to avoid bug -tech,” said weaver. “Anyone who needs a strong camera is not our audience.”
