Apple just closed the door all over when another iPhone just went vintage

Apple has a long list of devices that now considers vintage – including iPhones, iPads, Mac, Watches and more. And while the vintage word can force you to think about retro, like your grandfather used to rotate the old pocket, it means selling the product sold only five years ago for Apple. And now, after adding three more units to the list last month, another device joined the club.

The iPhone XS has been formally added to the Apple’s vintage list, which has been closed to the XRA in the history of the iPhone (iPhone X and the iPhone XS Max are already part of the list).

The iPhone XS launched back in September 2018 and was closed a year later. But since it has been trapped a little longer by third -party sellers, it is now eligible as a vintage under Apple’s timeline. And yes – in just two years, it will target the obsolete label, which means there will be no further cooperation from Apple.

Until then, Apple stores and authorized repair centers can still try to fix Vintage iPhone X, but only if they have got the right part in stock. If the parts are gone, you are out of your fate. Therefore, repair is possible but it is not guaranteed. As for software updates, vintage iPhones no longer get regular updates. In rare cases, if there is an important issue, they can still get security patches. Once the device collides with the obsolete phase, it basically ends the game. No repairs, no updates, nothing. For example, now is the case of iPad 5, which has just moved to the obsolete list.

However, to be fair, the Apple offers one of the best experiences of long -term help in the industry. Seven -year hardware and software coverage (to some extent) is impressive – especially consider that recently, most other companies have not come closer.

Samsung offered only 7 years of OS updates with the Galaxy S24 series in early 2024. Which, honestly, how should it be – if you are going to give me software support for this long time, I should also be able to keep my hardware alive, okay?
