Google is reportedly shutting down the feature of Android’s Instant Apps later this year. According to the report, a Mountain View -based tech devot is eliminating support for this feature by using less use and adoption of users. It will not work after the app after December 2025, and the company will also eliminate support for its application programming interface (API) and its integrated development environment (IDE), android studio. Specifically, last year, the company killed Chromkast and replaced it from the Google TV Streamer Set top box.

Allegedly used to use the quick apps of Android

According to a report by the Android Authority, a notice was seen for the immediate closure of the quick apps in the latest canry construction of Android Studio. Developer Leon Alamin allegedly saw the message, which appeared as a popup over the reliance on quick apps.

Based on a joint screenshot through publishing, the notice states, “Instant apps support will be removed by Google Play in December 2025. Publishing and all Google Play Instant API will not operate. The Android Studio Outher feature will be removed to the tooling support.”

Google spokesman New Carter also cited the service shutdown, referring to the low use and engagement of instant apps, and the developers referring to the selection of other tools for the discovery of the app as the main reasons. “This change allows us to invest more in the tools that are doing better for developers, and help users direct download downloads to promote deep engagement,” said the spokesman.

Google launched Instant Apps in 2017. This feature of those who are unfamiliar with this feature, these are the lightweight versions of regular apps that users can run without installing their device. Like Apple’s app clips, these are designed for a sharp app like experience and often perform only a specific function such as pay -pay or play demo.

Users to use quick apps, users must first enable the Google Play feature. Then, if they tap a link using Google Search on an Android device, check the store if there is an app that can open the link, according to the company’s support page. Taping the link immediately opens up an interface like an app that does not require the user to download or install anything.
