Microsoft’s Xbox handheld gaming console, which was rumored to launch in the next two years, has been allegedly canceled. A few days after Asus unveiled the ROG Xbox ally, a report states that the company has abandoned its plans to launch its handheld gaming device, which is expected to compete with Nintendo Switch 2. Microsoft is expected to focus on its new Xbox software platform that is expected to enable third -party OEMS to design its Xbox branded handheld gaming.
Microsoft will cooperate with third party handheld makers
Referring to internal people aware of Microsoft’s plans, Verge reports that the company has “essentially canceled” its plans to prepare its handheld gaming device. Instead of working on its compact gaming console, the Redmund company will continue to develop its Xbox Software that recently debuted on the launching Asus ROG Xbox Ally and Rog Xbox Exly X.
Meanwhile, according to Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, Microsoft will continue to cooperate with third -party OEMs who want to launch their own handheld gaming PC with Windows. “It is the most stringent cooperation between the gaming organization and the Windows team in its three decades,” he said in a recent Xbox podcast.
From ASUS, these new handheld consoles run on Windows, but when devices are sold later this year, consumers will not see the original Windows UI. Instead, the Xboxer user interface on the Xbox will allow them to launch sports or apps through a launcher that offers console experience like stamus. This can solve many problems that users can use while dealing with Windows on a 7 -inch or 8 -inch screen device.
The latest development has surfaced a few weeks after Windows Central reports that Microsoft has stopped the development of the Xbox Handheld Gaming Console, which was expected to reach its next generation with Xbox Consoles. The company is said to focus on its efforts to improve Windows 11’s gaming performance, so that it can improve handheld consoles.
According to the report, instead of declaring the company’s new sports according to Windows, the company has begun referring them as “Xbox PC” topics. In addition to the Xbox PC app Xbox PC Games, steam games will also be able to showcase the handheld consoles specifically. However, it appears that Microsoft has a lot of work before playing the Xbox titles on the Xbox PC using an emulator.
