The browser company’s new browser, DIA, is nothing like the company’s last product. This app, Arc, was fully considerate how the browsers work: he moved the tabs to the side and added them to Book Marx, offered endless ways to manage all of your belongings, and there were many ideas about it to make your web more delicious.

Josh Miller, CEO of the browser company, told me that the DIA would get some of these things over time. The app that is launching for current arc users today is still a beta (and just available on Mac). But none of this is the DIA point anyway. He says the DIA’s approach is practically bringing artificial intelligence to the center of every work that you do online. The main feature of the app is a chat tool that is able to see each of your websites, access every site, and help you find information, get goods, and get the web more easily.

The app itself, which I have been testing for a while, is incredibly easy to understand. Imagine Chrome, just more designed than polish and more playful dynamic images. Now imagine a sidebar to the right that has a chat boot like a chat GPT, which you can ask for at any time. You can use a chatboat to talk about the tab you are watching, other tabs you are open, and even your browsing history. It can answer questions, find information, set different things in one thread, and much more.

Chrome with chat boot. This is a diverse. On the goal, Miller says, “As much as I personally loved Arc,” I could not ignore the figures that said that people have a lot of novelty to try it. “ARC data shows that once people received it, they were bowed down, but most people never got it.” When we started to make a diya, the fact is that it had horizontal tabs not as strategic as self -identity. It was the right thing to do. “

When I point to Miller that it is a beautiful novel, just doing just rotating your day with a chat boot, he stops me. That’s the thing, he says: This is not. Chat GPT is the fastest growing application in Internet history, the industry is already resetting around the chat, and talking to AI, especially in young people, is already the second thing. Miller says, “You talk to college students or high school students, and they are talking about this like a person.”

At the same time, the ability to refer to a group of tabs is its most impressive initial feature.

Early Dia Testers, without the guidance of a large -scale browser company, have used their AI helpers for food planning, study assistance, and dating and friendship advice. Miller says, “One thing we are seeing is that many people start chatting before starting a project.” “Before they open an application, before they look for Google, their first fate is to open their computer and ask AI or for a plan.” In the last year or more, even Miller has found herself bent on AI Chat for more often and more things. If you want, you can find this horrible and dustopian – a small part of Miller may be pleased – but the trends do not lie.

If you are convinced that this AI relationship is both deep and inevitable, then making a web browser around them is perfectly meaningful. This is becoming an accepted wisdom: Trouble is building a browser, Open has been reported to do for a long time, and if it ever grows for sale, AI companies are erecting to buy chrome. Meanwhile, Google is busy integrating Gemini into Chrome while it can still be. When the browser company started, its major condition was that the browsers are given more importance than our feeling. Now, everyone has realized.

You can learn a terrible thing by just broses the web about someone

There are three major reasons for making a browser for your AI. First, you can learn a terrible thing by just browsing the web about someone. “How does this system understand everything you are doing all day?” Browser company CTO Horsesh Agarwal says. “Where do you click, where do you type – how do you scratch the pages you are seeing?” The DIA team also searched for a website’s main bits quickly and storing it as well as to find out which sites are related to you and which you will never hear again. After that, all of this data and history returns to the interaction of every chat. Over time, Agarwal says, personal nature has become the most important feature of the DIA.

The second major benefit of the browser is the URL bar. Agarwal says, “The most valuable thing in this new world, the fact that the browser owns CMD-T and Omnibox, because it’s the only entry point in your computer where you express your intention-this is the most used text box on your computer.” It is true that the US government has to force the company to sell the company to Chrome, thus snatching Omnibox.

Within the DIA, each tab and window begins with an Omnibox. If you type a website name, you should take it there. If you type something that looks like a web search, you should get the web search results. And if you ask for something to handle an AI assistant, it should not only bring the assistant, but also the correct version of the assistant is required with the correct data and skills that you need to help you equip.

Instead of trying to make an intended chat boot like Gemini, or ask you to choose between a million -purpose -created models like Chat GPT, the browser company has invested a lot of investment in which Agarwal is called “Routing System”. The DIA does not run most of its models, and after trying months, the browser company has abandoned efforts to compete in this place. Instead, the company says “talent” in the upper part of existing models, which helps indicators and models to sync your needs with the right tools. Agarwal says, “and importantly,” we have customs UI and custom memory systems for every skill. “

When you ask the DIA to find a coat, assistant can activate the shopping skills, which you see from Amazon and Anthropology knows all the things. When you call it an email draft, written skills can see both emails and authors you write.

Head of Product Engineering Tara Finner says the browser company thinks about the skill system like the iPhone App Store. “Really about how we will open the browser already in the works and things you are already doing in the things you are already doing?” Right now, most of the AI system wants to be a super app, which is capable of becoming everything for all people all the time. Being more specific and concentrated, DIA can improve (and cheap) individual jobs. By getting the routing system properly, it can do it all and still feel smooth.

The DIA just doesn’t see every webpage you see – it can see everything in every site in which you are logged in.

The third thing that browsers is going for them is slightly less clear, but perhaps even more powerful: cookies. Since Dia stores the cookies you get from every website on the web, it is able to interact with all these websites by you. This means that the DIA just doesn’t look at every web page – it can see everything in every site in which you are logged in.

Right now, Agarwal says, Dia mostly uses cookies to get from websites you go, but more can be more. Someday, in the future, full of AI agents who can browse the web and make equipment by you, your browser becomes a powerful command center for all boots. Agarwal says the browser company actually made such a device. “We use it for large -scale meetings, reservations, all kinds of things you can do with your cookies.” The problem that the team discovered was that tech was not perfect, and people did not like the feeling that their web browser was getting out of control. For now, the DIA does not have much agency. But it will change.

The DIA says it does not know my social security number. But if it wants it!

With all this power, though, many problems are encountered. The first is the only feeling that the browser gives you. For the first time Dia makes you aware that he knows your social security number, because you have typed it once, does it read it helpful or horrible? Your browser always knows an amazing amount about you, but has never been reflected before he knows you so straight. Agarwal says the browser company has done a lot of work to find out which data – health, financial, or any other way – is very important. And he hopes it will never recite your social security number, even if he knows it.

Agarwal is also cautious that all your data is secure and encrypted on your computer. He says, “Whenever the goods are sent to our service for processing,” he lives there for millions and is then erased. “The ARC has some security issues over time, and Agarwal has repeatedly said that confidentiality and security from the very beginning has been the key to the development of the DIA. Over time, he hopes that almost everything in the DIA can happen locally.

So what does all this increase? First, Dia is a browser that allows you to chat with your tabs. This is a DIA marketing tagline, and it is the main task of the browser right now. I have seen the Dia Demo, citing different jobs of various job interviews across multiple tabs, to assess a person’s performance. I have seen how you can use the DIA to summarize a slack conversation and write your answers, or how can you help you check the bridge request in the gut hub. Most of this are no new things – it’s just that the pieces are made simultaneously, so you don’t need to copy and paste, download and upload, or even take screenshots. The boot looks at the browser, and vice versa.

But in a long time, if the Miller and the browser company is right about where AI is headed, your web browser can be much more than just a web browser. It can be an app that is with you everywhere, which knows you better, which can help you in anything. If this is the future, every company needs to become an app with which you start to establish a relationship, as switching costs will be painful. Miller compared it by changing music apps, “One of the reasons I have never converted into Apple music, though it works well in the Apple ecosystem. It really doesn’t know my music tastes that the spotifies have gathered over time.”

He hopes, whenever you open the tab, the diarrhea will be better and more personal. And eventually you won’t love your browser because it works with tabs – you will love it because of the way you work with you.
