Microsoft reveals its long-rumored Xbox Handheld Console running Windows 11 during Xbox Games Showcase- Two models called the ROG Xbox ally and ROG Xbox ally X – And I spent some time playing with one after the same time.
Unfortunately, I was not allowed to take a demo photo or videos because the hardware we got to test was not final. This became clear when our designated guide had HDMI connection issues with the unit. I managed to play with the Xbox Phil Screen experience and the menus of various settings and could play the opening minutes of the Gears of War Railways that came up this summer.

With a slightly textured grip, the device is quite comfortable. The face buttons, triggers and analog sticks all felt familiar, which made me accustomed to the Xbox Controller.
The really surprising thing is that you can download your game, remoteplay from your Xbox or become more useful than a cloud stream, the PlayStation portal, which can only be remote and play. And this game bar works with Asos’s Armori Crete Overley. This is a bit worrying, because Armori Crete has usually felt like unnecessary blotware, but when we start to test the device later this year, we will see if Asus has snatched it into relevant functions rather than adding further.
Since this is Windows 11 device, you will also be able to launch and use apps such as Discard and Tatch and Access Game mode. Xbox Eli’s shoes directly do in the “Xbox Phil Screen Experience” as how the steam deck is launched in a large picture mode. The full screen experience has been improved especially the Optim for handheld gaming, and the Xbox told me that the device minimizes the background activity and allocates more system resources in the gameplay, such as the game mode on Windows. This means that your sports are more memory and potentially high frames.

The Allied X has an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 highly processor, 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD storage, which weighs a bit more on 25.2 ounces (715 grams) and has a battery of 80WH.
Both models are equipped with 7 inches, 120 hits 1080p screen, which are similar to the original ASUS version of the devices. They also have RGB lights around the Analog sticks, I hope that when I spend some real time playing on the device, I will close. The ally X felt the heavy side, but then, the recently released switch 2 and my steam deck OLED is also very heavy, so I think the handhelds these days are the weight of this.
Apart from “this holiday”, the Xbox has not yet revealed the pricing or release date.
