Sony has a new play station branded arcade -style battle stick that is coming soon. The controller, the Dubbed Project Defant, was announced only during the June 2025 State -ofPlay showcase.
It should be well folded with some of the most excellent fighting games on PS5 as well as recently announced Motor Comebott: Legacy Collection and Arc Systems Works Fighting Game Marvel Tokens: Fighting Spirits Well Folded.

The teaser only showed the stick, but more details were revealed at the PlayStation Blog Post. There, Sony revealed that the controller can connect wirelessly with PS5 or PC using the PlayStation Link technology, though you can optionally plug it through the USB-C cable.

According to Sony, the link allows “extremely delayed” to facilitate the exact response when pressing the button or moving the stick.
The Project Defendant Fight Stick Sony has a “custom design” and includes at least eight buttons with a mechanical switch. This is a digital stick, so you can move it to orthogan but not in any direction freely.
There is also a touchpad on double -senses controller and exchanging restriction doors. The controller will also come up with a carrying case, including a lever gap to protect the stick.
Sony did not share the release date beyond 2026, rather than “the months ahead” will have more details. These details will include the name of the original device and the end of the launch. But we have to wait and make an effort for ourselves whether this is the best fight for PS5 or not.
