Tech companies are famous for the “borrowing” features from each other. Whenever Apple or Samsung releases a new phone or software update, you can definitely find the arguments that it will result in the first, or better, hard fans.
The reason is that as Apple allegedly intended to start a thin version of iPhone 17 in this fall, competitors can see what resonates with users. If so, some features on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are on my desire list for the iPhone 17 Air with rumors. Reports show that Skinner can eventually replace the iPhone Plus, and will also have a $ 900 tag tag. But whether or not the cost is clear, the price is not clear.
Samsung’s super thin S25 Edge watches is 5.8 mm and 163 grams. It is priced at $ 1,100 and is now available for purchase. This is one of my favorite phones I have ever used, thanks to the fresh form factor. In fact, despite my initial doubts, I am now convinced that there is a way to go a thin and light phone. You can check my review of my experience more depth of my experience using the phone.
For now, though, I would like to share the features of the five Galaxy S25 Edge that I would love to see on the iPhone 17 Air. Apple may not have yet confirmed the existence of this thin device, but it can’t stop a girl from dreaming.
A titanium frame
Despite the Galaxy S25 Edge’s spacious 6.7 -inch display, it still feels impressively wings. Despite its thin, it is amazingly strong, it doesn’t feel like it is snatching in my hands or pockets.
This lightweight durability is thankful for the phone’s titanium frame, which I hope Apple has adopted for its thin iPhone. Apple uses titanium frames in its pro model phones, so it is nice to see that the same treatment applies to a thin iPhone. Since I am sure it will also have a premium price, it will definitely require extra reinforcements to prevent it from bending.
Rumors have gone back and forth whether Apple’s upcoming iPhones will have aluminum or titanium frames. However, analyst Jeff PU said in February that the iPhone 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max would all have aluminum frames, and that the iPhone could be outlined with a 17 wind titanium frame. I really hope this is true.
A 120 -heritz refresh rate
Samsung’s S25 Edge has a 120 -herts refresh rate for smooth scrolling. In fact, with the price of $ 1,100, if I don’t, I will be very angry. If the iPhone Air is being marketed as a premium device, then it also needs a premium display. As easy as it.
In 2025, asking for a 120 -herts refresh rate does not seem like an unusual request – unless you remember that Apple’s baseline 16 and 16 Plus iPhones have only 60 hits refresh rate, which is really in mind. Hopefully, Apple’s treatment is with the entire iPhone 17 lineup, and especially with the iPhone 17 Air.
Please, more than one camera
The number three iPhone 17 Air cameras in my list – and the notice I said with “S” with “Camera”, because I just don’t want one.
One of the compromises with thin phones is that the camera can be returned to the hardware. The Galaxy S25 Edge has two rear cameras, which are less than the remaining S25 lineup. But Samsung, impressively, has worked on a 200 -megapixel main camera that you will also find on the S25 ultra, and will connect it with a 12 -megapixel ultra -wide camera. This makes some beautiful shots – the images are sharp, colors are balanced and portraits are really pop.
Some rumors suggest that the iPhone 17 can follow in the footsteps of the iPhone 16E and contain only one lens. But this will be a huge boomer, as there is a “budget” phone technically a “budget” phone – even if it proposes a $ 600 price tag.
Although the iPhone 16 E has a 48 -megapixel camera that has a 2x magnesium, I will still realize the fraud if I have got it all with a more premium device like the iPhone 17 Air. If I’m going to spend about $ 1,000 on a phone, I want the camera to stay up to the price tag.
Beat Samsung on battery life
Another feature with which you have to compromise when choosing a slim phone is battery life. Low room means a small battery, which means battery life is low. The S25 Edge has a 3,900 mAh battery, which is the smallest capacity in the S25 series. It continued all day, even with my more screen time, but no more.
I challenge Apple to break the limit and give us a thin phone that doesn’t stand on the battery. The iPhone 17 can be a great way to keep the air separate from rivals – and as a result these rivals can also pressure them to improve their offer.
Fresh storage and ram
I was pleasantly surprised that the Galaxy S25 Age packed 12GB of Ram, which has 256GB and 512GB storage options. Since the expansable storage is such a nausea – and is practically out of the question with a thin phone – it’s great not to worry too much about filling your phone’s memory with photos, videos and sports. All this Ram S25 Edge helps to strengthen many AI properties in which it shares with the remaining S25 lineup.
The entire iPhone 16 lineup has 8GB of RAM, which seems to be working well even when Apple Intelligence features. So it may be unnecessary to ask for 12 GB of RAM at the iPhone 17 air. But I really hope a thin iPhone will not back down, and will include the 512 GB storage option. That way, you can really enjoy having a thin phone, without reducing your use.
We will see what Apple has picked up, and will it really start a modern competitor in the Samsung S25 Edge.
