One UI 7 was one of the most abusive updates by Samsung in recent history. It was delayed several times, and even the Galaxy S25, which had to launch with the construction of a stable One UI7, was missing until it was updated two months later. Needless to say, it stained Samsung’s reputation, but it seems that an UI will bring back 8 things where it should be, because Samsung has so far launched a beta for the Galaxy S25 users, just a week after Pixel users received Android 16 beta.

So far, a UI 8 is not as important as an UI 7, but there are still many small changes and adaptations that can make significant differences. If you want to test yourself, open the Samsung members app and scroll down to the bottom right, where you will find and enroll the beta program tab. Make sure you perform a full backup, as Google Purse and some banking apps can’t work properly in the beta. It is also worth noting that many good lock modules have been broken in an UI 8, so if you trust them, you will probably want to wait.
So, without further ado, so far I have my favorite changes to an UI 8.
Better control for old Galaxy buds
An UI 7 adds immediate control for the Galaxy’s buds 3 and 3 Pro, but an UI 8 increases them to support older aerobics as well. I have experienced them with the Galaxy buds 2 pro and galaxy buds, and this feature was only available at 2 pro, so your mileage may vary based on what airbids you have.
You can quickly access control from a full screen media player on a quick settings panel or lock screen. In quick settings, you can tap the icon of the Galaxy buds in the bottom right of the media player, or put a long pressure to the volume slider. On the lock screen, you will see the same galaxy buds in the media player. From these menos, you can see battery levels for your buds, noise cancellation, and 360 audio and equation options. Settings menu can find further iOS -affected increase, where a shortcut for connecting aerbedus shows up on the menu of the connector. Taping this opens the relevant settings page in the galaxy wear app.
The latest season app
A UI 7A UI 8
The Samsung season has already made a significant design for an UI 7, and a UI 8 improves it. The person in the upper part of the app now runs on the screen when you open it, and the overall art style has changed. The background is no longer a gradual color. Instead, it shows a grass background that looks behind the app elements as well as the app.
A UI 7A UI 8
There is a good change for countries like the UK that use the hybrid of the metric and imperial system. In an UI 7, you can only choose between Celsius and Fareian Height. The problem was that air speed and other units would be linked to this choice, so that I could see the cells for temperature but kilo per hour for air speed. In an UI 8, these options are clearly labeled, and a new hybrid sequence means that I can see everything in the units that I use.
Better Samsung app integration with methods and routines
Samsung’s methods and routines app have been my favorite since it is called Boxby Routines, and a UI 8 has added some good new integration. Samsung reminders, clocks, notes, and calendars can be communicated with routine, which you can automatically obtain the process of noting, reminders and more. Methods and routines are already a powerful tool, so just having more options to select the app makes the app more useful.
The Samsung calendar and reminder changes
Samsung’s reminders have received a visual refresh and is now better connected to the calendar app. When you enter the calendar event creator, the two buttons above allow you to create a calendar event and change between a job in reminders.
Within the reminder app, different elements are re -designed. In the upper part, you have categories for your actions, and below it, for five examples of reminder teach you how to work scheduling and repetition reminders, how to attach locations and more. When you start making your event, reminders borrow a feature from the calendar and suggest previous reminders.
Don’t bother at the bar now and call the phone call
Now the bar was introduced in an UI 7 and this is the Samsung direct information display method, which will be added to Google Android 16. In an UI 8, now the lock screen now shows details about phone calls and dot Distro (DND) feature. The previous contact name and the duration of the call show, while the latter indicates that when the DND is given the opportunity to disable it.
Unfortunately, phone calls have not yet been connected with direct notifications at the status bar when the phone is opened. In one UI 7 and 8, when you are on the call, the Green Phone icon appears in the status bar. Taping this leads to the full screen phone call UI. I was hoping that it would turn into a UI 7 music player, as well as how Apple uses a dynamic island, but alas, it doesn’t.
90:10 Multi Tasking
Earlier this month, we discovered that the Google Split screen was working on a 90:10 layout for multi -tasking, which was affected by the Open Canvas of OnePlus. Although this feature is not yet available for Pixels in Android 16 beta, it is available in an UI 8 son. As you can see in the video, you can change the size of the Android spiral screen so that one of the apps can capture the minimum space on the top or bottom of the screen. You can’t do anything with a small app in this mode, but tapping it changes the size between the two apps. If you have to bounce between two apps repeatedly, it is much faster than switching through the review screen each time.
A UI 7A UI 8
Another minor update is available for the UI used in pop -up Windows. In an UI 7 and older age, the window was shown with the menu button in the sequence to minimize, maximize and close it. In an UI 8, the menu button has been replaced by the left hand, and the nearby button now uses the same design that is found in the implementation of the stock Android popup Windows.
Filter download through the app
Zack Ki Danis / Android Authority
An UI 8 files app has a small but happy change that makes it easy to find the right download. In recent files and download lists, there are filters in the top of the screen that let you choose to show files that are downloaded by a specific app. The next time you need to find a PDF downloading from Gmail that you forgot to change the name, you can filter through Gmail downloads to find it faster.
Safe folder gets more secure
The Secure Folder provides an encrypted sandbox on your Samsung phone, allowing you to keep separate apps, files, photos and accounts. At a UI 7 and older, you can protect a secure folder with different pins or passwords from your central phone, but the fingerprint unlock was shared. An UI 8 changes this behavior so that you can register various fingerprints for a secure folder compared to the scanners already for your lock screen.
Another option allows you to temporarily hide the secure folder. When you use this option, everything is confidential, so apps inside the secure folder will not work and cannot send notifications. The secure folder app’s icon will disappear from the app until you tap the safe folder quake setting icon.
Swipe for access to camera settings
As long as I remember, swipes up or down in the View Finder has changed between front and rear cameras. This is still an option in an UI 8, but if you prefer, you can instead assign the wipe to open the camera menu, which is usually obtained through a small button on the right side of the screen. It can be difficult to hit the button, depending on how you are holding your phone, so this shortcut increases the most important access.
Call recording in contact date
Zack Ki Danis / Android Authority
An UI 7 added a call recording to the Samsung dialer, and an UI 8 has added a quality feature of life, making it easier to find the correct recording. When you access the call date for a contact, the recording will be displayed in all other entries as well as in the timeline. In addition, the call recording has not changed much, but referring to a particular British supermarket: Every little help.
Quick Share Re -Design
Zack Ki Danis / Android Authority
Quick Share is one of my favorite addition to Android. It only increases its benefits to sharing files between without interruptions and painless devices and with Windows PC. In an UI 8, there were significant changes in the appearance of quick shares. When you are sharing, you see a small preview of the file on the top left with the file name and size.
In one UI 7 and other Android devices, tapping the Quick Share Toggle in your quick settings shows a dialogue that allows you to manage who can share with you. In an UI 8, it opens a full -screen page where you can edit these settings, as well as switch to a new sender screen with a file selector.
AI Select is no longer useless
An UI 7 took a smart select, a device that had been a useful part of an UI for years, and wasted it in the Galaxy AI. The most important problem with this was how slow it was, because you had to wait for the Galaxy AI animation to finish the game before you choose anything. An UI 8 has solved the problem, allowing you to highlight that as soon as you have opened the AI select, you have done on your screen without waiting. This does not solve other problems with AI select. GIF makers and other useful tools are still controversial, but at least the basic functionality is as fast as it did.
Once you selected something, a UI 8 version of the AI Select will allow you to set a screenshot of everything selected as your wallpaper. I am trembling to think about how bad it may look, in view of the low resolution of something cut off your screen, but maybe I will be a pleasant surprise.
More to come?
Paul Jones / Android Authority
Overall, a UI 8 is already forming to be a good update, even if it was not such a significant change as an UI 7. Nevertheless, this is just the first beta, and we can expect to see additional changes and features as the construction is issued in the future. As it stands, there are some Android 16 features that are not present in an UI 8, such as notification Coldown. Hopefully, they will be added soon, and will not be upset like a UI 8 stable release One UI 7.
