I have used different phones in numerous form factors: large, small, phones that connect with ways that look very fragile to work. But when I have the very thin and light of Samsung-but the surprisingly strong-Galaxy S25 Edge, the first word coming to the mind is “air”. My next thinking is: If I had S25 Plus, I would be upset.
In a preview event in New York, in my early hand with the S25 Edge, I encountered how much the new phone picked up from its S25 counterparts. It retains 200 megapixel wide camera from S25 Ultra, 6.7 -inch display from S25 Plus and Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and you will find in the other three S25 devices. But it rotates at 163 grams, inside a sleek, 5.8 mm titanium frame. It feels like I can throw in my bag or pocket and hardly notice.

In fact, the S25 Edge has attacked me exactly the same way that the middle line should be the flagship phone: a fresh, high tech on the baseline model, which draws into premium features to justify its 1,100 price. Interesting design, extremely surface wide camera and spacious display actually makes it a charming option for everyone who wants something out of ordinary.
But that does not mean that there is no compromise in the store, the battery is the most notable. More later on it.
In advance for the Galaxy S25 Edge, the phone will arrive on May 30. It comes in three colors: silver, jet black and icy blue.

Does S25 highlight the edge?
The biggest question until the release of the S25 Edge has been: Why does anyone want a slim phone anyway? After spending some time with the device, I started to see the appeal.
Although at first glance the thickness of the S25 Edge may not be visible, it is a different story to put hands on the phone. Comparing the S2.25 mm, 163g frame of S25 and S25 Plus, I registered how slim and light it is. For reference, the baseline S25 is 7.2 mm thick and weighs 162 grams, but has a small 6.2 -inch screen. The S25 Plus has the same 6.7 -inch display as the edge, but it weighs 7.3 mm and weighs 190 grams. This is a significant difference.
The moment of reality was applying some force over the phone to see if it had given it exactly. Inspired, it felt strong. (If not, I probably may have put myself in any trouble with Samsung.) This corning guerrilla glasses, along with a ceramic 2 display, also backs Gorilla Glass Victites 2. My initial impression is that you do not have to worry about mistakenly converting the S25 edge into your previous pocket and converting into a foldable, but this is certainly something I have to examine in my review. The S25 Edge also maintains the same IP68 rating for dust and water resistance that you will find on other S25 series phones.

The biggest trade, at least on paper, appears battery capacity. In comparison to the Galaxy S25 Edge’s 3,900 mA battery, you will find what you get on baseline S25 (4,000 mAh) and S25 Plus (4,900 mAh). Samsung is not sharing how many hours you will get out of the S25 Edge battery, besides saying it will continue all day. This is something else I’m looking forward to testing. The S25 Edge supports 25 watts wired charging and 15 watt wireless charging.
With thin phones, camera hardware can also be left behind. But there are three cameras in the S25 Edge: 200 megapixel wide, 12 megapixel ultra -wide and 12 megapixel selfie camera. Megapixels are not everything, so I’m anxious to see how it all translates into real world photography. Samsung pointed to the Galaxy AI to help promote the quality of the camera and strengthen the features of photo editing such as generative edit.
Like the S25 Plus, the S25 Edge has 12GB of Ram and 256GB and 512GB storage options. The cost will be slightly higher than the S25 Plus, though: $ 1,100 for 256GB and 2 1,220 for 512GB. But its price is still lower than the top of the line $ 1,300 s25 ultra.
You will find the features of the Galaxy AI that Samsung is searching for the rest of its S25 phones, such as image and audio eraser. Gemini’s features are also on the ship, such as Gemini Live and Circle Off.
Other companies can soon follow it and release their super thin phones.
To the edge of a new trend
The Galaxy S25 Edge begins between the trend of a thin phone. Earlier this year, the OPPO released its highly thin search N5 foldable, called “the world’s most thin book -style foldable”, when closing only 8.93 mm thick and 4.21 mm thick. Apple is also rumored to create a thin “air” version of the iPhone 17. And in MWC 2025, the phone maker, Techno, showed the concept of its spark slim phone, which measures 5.75 mm thick and weighs only 146 grams, according to the company.
Depending on what consumers respond to, the S25 Edge phone may be to help start the phone’s thin obsession. If according to a CNET survey, people do not need to compromise when buying the phone – when buying the phone three biggest reservations – they may be inclined to pay a fresh form factor. However, in addition to a handful of foldable options, the phones have become boring and forecasts. The S25 edge can have fresh air breath.
