As promised a few days ago, today nothing has started rolling out OS 4.0, which is based on Android 16. Instead, beta testing takes longer.

Update nothing phone(3) first, as we expected. The company says nothing else and CMF devices will follow, but isn’t currently committing to a specific time frame for another model.

Updated Glyph controls, an improved pocket mode, and new Glyph toys (hourglass and lunar cycle) bring nothing more than a deep flip to the phone (3), while Mirror Selfie now allows you to save the original photo as an extra photo in your gallery.

These are all new phone-specific bits (3) The rest of the channel, which you can see below, will be shared with other devices.

    • Live Updates delivers real-time ride, delivery, and timer information directly to your screen and the Glyph interface combines lock screen, notifications, and light-based indicators so you can instantly track progress without opening the app.
    • Any app that supports Android 16’s Direct Updates feature will now start supporting the Glyph Progress feature of Anything. This means nothing can support more apps than ever before.
    • An enhanced extra dark mode deepens blacks, improves contrast, and reduces system-wide power consumption.
    • It brings a quieter, more focused look to notifications, quick settings, and the app drawer, improving both comfort and visibility in low light.
    • This now extends to first-party apps like Essential Space and Launcher, with wider integration to follow.
    • Nothing OS 4.0 adds to how the system feels in motion. Every touch, swipe and gesture now responds with greater depth and finesse.
    • Haptic feedback across volume ranges – When adjusting volume, precise haptic feedback is now displayed at maximum and minimum points. It gives you instant, physical feedback, even when you’re not looking at the screen.
    • App open and close animations – Opening and closing apps now feels smoother and more immersive. The background of the home screen gently scales in or out, creating a sense of depth and touch that makes every transition feel alive.
    • Improved notification interactions – Every movement has a subtle sense of weight and bounce, creating a smooth, responsive flow throughout the interface.
    • More Widget Sizes – Design your home screen your way. New 1×1 and 2×1 layouts for weather, pedometer and screen time let you create a balanced setup that matters most while keeping space to a minimum.
    • Popup View – Now you can open two floating apps at the same time and switch between them with simple gestures. Swipe down to minimize or pull down to expand to full screen.
    • Hidden Icons – Keep your settings clean and private. You can hide any app from your app drawer while keeping access just a swipe away. It’s an easy way to simplify your home screen and create a setup that reflects your style.

As with all software updates, it’s likely to roll out in stages, so if your Nothing Phone (3) hasn’t notified you about it yet, it’s not because it’s on its way. All you need to do is wait a few days and it will reach you.
