At the end of my Daj: For goodness sake Screening, when the lights came on, everyone had hardly any mascara left on their eyelashes. The second half of director Jon M. Cho’s ostentatious vision is an emotional rollercoaster in entirely new ways, and to me, completely defied expectations (see what I did there?).
The second half of the movie musical was always difficult to adapt. All have joined and gone into happy narration and dance numbers The wickedThe storyline takes a deep turn as Alphabet (Cynthia Arevo) is officially named the Witch of the West.
Daj: The sentimental cartoon debut film ended the sketch for a good pack
look
When we pick up the story in the second half, Madame Morrier’s (Michelle Yeoh) PR campaign to make her the Witch of the West has backfired, and all of Oz is terrified. Alphabet continues to fight for the animals and Ozyan to live in peace while being persecuted at every turn.
Meanwhile, Glinda and Ferrero (Jonathan Bailey) secretly try to help everyone despite putting on a happy and loving front. And the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum)? Well, he’s just kicking it, there’s a bunch of animal prisoners in the tower to talk about.
It should go without saying, but you really need to look The wicked First things first here – there are no wrapping events, and the movie is really relying on your existing knowledge as it moves along. What is particularly worth pointing out is that happiness is gone from this part of the story, as Oz and the alphabet’s lives take a turn for chaos.
Emotionally, things don’t let up. Alphabet can’t catch a break, the animals are panicking, Farrow can’t be with the woman he loves, Glinda realizes Farrow never loved her and Bok (Ethan Slater) is trapped in Munchland by Nessaros (Marissa Bode) as she runs into the Wicked Witch of the East.
While it may sound tacky, it’s actually the perfect movie to accompany The wickedFirst half. Even a fictional land like Oz cannot live in ignorant bliss forever, and if we want our happily ever after, there must be a huge emotional payoff.
Luckily for us, Arevo and Grande are the perfect pair to steer this ship.
Cynthia Arevo’s performance of ‘No Dead’ is one for the ages
It was clear in the first film that Grande and Ario were made for each other as far as performance partnerships go, but I’m going to argue a potential hot-shot. Daj: For goodness sake Arevo’s movie, not Grande’s.
Obviously, this part of the story is heavily focused on the alphabet anyway, but Arevo runs away with a performance that literally defies gravity. The pièce de résistance is his earth-shattering ‘No Good Decond’, which not only had the audience in fits of applause, but I felt like I was levitating as I watched. I couldn’t move or focus on anything other than her amazing voice and emotional range.
That’s not to say Grande has blended into the background, though. The pair’s chemistry feels bound together by fate, and it makes the film’s big tear-jerker moment ‘good’ as Glinda and Alphabet must say goodbye. We all saw this coming (although it hurts every time), but don’t worry too much – some minor changes have been made for the better (like Peter Dinklage’s Dr Delmond having much better luck).
While Yeh and Goldblum are hitting the same show-stopping developments we’ve come to expect from them, Cho’s direction won’t be for everyone. Subjectively, I think he was incredibly consistent and portrayed Oz exactly as we needed to see him. On a broad visual scale, Daj: For goodness sake It continues to be epic cinema with highly detailed scenes and sets, and even if you turn off the sound, you’ll be completely satisfied.
We’ve got events The Wizard of Oz Going along with your journey through the alphabet. Not only do I love how it contradicts the original 1939 film, but Cho demonstrates just how far back he chose to go.
Dorothy is kept ambiguous, while the Scarecrow and the Tin Man are the most tightly knit for reasons that become clear throughout the film (no spoilers here, don’t worry). Coleman Domingo voices our Cowardly Lion, but you’d never know it — not least because he only has about two lines in the entire movie. Clearly, these are not our stars of the show.
A week after watching it, I’m as enchanted as I entered Daj: For goodness sake As I sat wide-eyed in front of the screen. This is undoubtedly the most unacceptable movie of 2025 and beyond Avatar: Fire and Ashit is also easily the biggest spectacle of the year.
The two-part franchise is ending on a huge high, and I’m going to miss being immersed in the sweetness and seriousness of the world and its cast has created. Sure, if you’re really looking for them, there are minor packaging issues, and you’re definitely not walking away without shedding a tear.
But, as the title suggests, you really will be changed for good.
