A while ago, we saw the sketches of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 4, but now the new, much more detailed images have been discovered in the code of a UI 8.5, along with details that reveal new features for the next generation.
We have some good news or bad news, depending on whether you like stems or not. They’re here to stay — the Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro will still have trunks.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro will have a flatter body and a flat case
However, the stems will be flattened, moving away from the triangular shape of the 3rd generation of buds. And the “blade lights” are nowhere to be seen.
The charging case has also been redesigned and now the buds are flat. There’s a USB-C port on the back for charging and a button, which triggers the Find Your Phone function (the phone makes a sound to help you find it). Things could also work the other way around – it looks like there’s a loudspeaker grill on the other side of the charging port, allowing the charging case to make sound as well.
New Features Coming to Galaxy Buds 4 Generation
The big upgrade this generation will be in head gestures – you can nod or shake your head to trigger certain actions: answer calls or notifications, read notifications aloud (and cancel reading), dismiss alarms and timers. If you’re interacting with the phone’s AI assistant, you’ll be able to nod or shake your head in response to “yes or no” questions.

The stems will be hardware controlled with squeeze and swipe functions. The Buds 4 will also feature adaptive noise control, 360° audio recording and high-speed pairing with a phone or tablet. The case will have a slightly larger battery.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro are likely to be unveiled in late January alongside the Galaxy S26 generation and launched in early February, if recent reports are true.
