Nubia Z80 Ultra unveiled with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 7,200mAh battery

The Nubia Z80 Ultra is the brand’s latest flagship and features several improvements over its predecessor, such as the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a revised camera setup and a larger 7,200mah C/C battery with 90W wired and 80W wireless charging. The phone was launched in China earlier today and Nubia also confirmed that it will hold a global launch on November 6.

The Z80 Ultra brings a 6.85-inch BOE X10 AMOLED screen with a 1.5K resolution (1,216 x 2,688 px) along with a 144Hz refresh rate. Nubia is once again implementing an under-display camera, which has a 16 MP resolution and frees the panel from any obstacles, so it’s a smooth canvas.

Nubia is bringing back the 35mm-equivalent main cam, which uses a custom 1/1.3-inch Omnivision 990 sensor. It includes a 64MP periscope using a 1/2″ sensor with 3x optical zoom. The third shooter is an 18mm-equivalent ultrawide module with a 1/1.55-inch sensor.

The new AI photography filters recommend color profiles on the fly, but you can also tweak color profiles manually.

Nubia is also offering an optional photography kit for CNY 669 ($95) that has a vintage camera look. It comes with a “T-mount” with support for external lenses and a cold shoe for microphones, fill lights and other accessories.

The phone is offered with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. The SD Elite Gen 5 includes a comprehensive liquid metal cooling solution similar to Red Magic gaming phones and you also get a 3D Ice Steel VC heat sink for maximum cooling.
