- Google has launched beta testing Android 16 QPR2, a quarterly update that will introduce the new developer facing APIS as well as the user facing features.
- This is part of the new Google’s new high -speed release schedule to get new Android and AI features to developers faster than the traditional annual cycle.
- Currently QPR1 users have a short window to opt out and move to a stable channel without wiping their device before the QPR2 updates are installed.
Prior to its stable release in December, Google has begun examining the second quarter of Android 16 (QPR2). The company today is manufacturing Android 16 Qpr2 Beta 1 for Pixel Devices, which is being offered our first glimpse on what is expected in the fourth quarter Android update.
In October last year, Google unveiled its high -speed release schedule for Android. Instead of rolling only one Android release in 2025, which contains new APIs for developers, Google will launch a second Android release with the new developer APIS. The first Android Release of 2025, which brought the new developer to APIS, was a stable release of Android 16, and the second is Android 16 QPR2.
Android’s 2025 release timeline review
This change makes Android 16 QPR2 more important updates than a normal quarter release, which usually only brings new features to the user. By adding new APIS to the fourth quarter, Google aims to achieve new Android and AI capabilities in the hands of developers.
Although the developer -based features are key, Android 16 QPR2 will also introduce new features for users. We do not know what they will be yet, but do not expect anything as much as the 3 -3 expression is re -design and desktop format that is ready to bring Android 16 QPR1. We will dig to know what’s new, so soon through Android 16 Qpr2 beta 1, so continue!

How to install Android 16 QPR2 beta 1 and whether you should
You can install Pixel 6 and later Android 16 QPR2 beta 1. If your device is running a stable version of Android 16, the best way to upgrade is to register it in Android beta program. If your device has already been enrolled, it will soon get the Over the Air (OTA) update.
If you are currently on Android 16 Qpr1 beta and want to go to a stable channel, you have a short window to do this without deleting your data. If this is your goal, do not install QPR 2 beta 1 update. Instead, follow these steps:
- Opt out of the Android beta program
- Do not install the “Android Beta Exit” with your device received. This update will erase your data.
- Wait for the release of Stable Android 16 Qpr1. My sources show that his plan is on September 3, 2025.
Once you install the Android 16 Qpr2 beta 1 update, you will be wasting the opportunity to go to a stable channel without a data wiping. Your next opportunity to get out of the beta program without losing your data will be when a stable version of Android 16 QPR2 will expire, which my sources say is expected on December 2, 2025.
