- Google has finally begun the long -awaited temperature scheduling features for the third general and e -nest thermostis in the Google Home app.
- The last major reason is that many users were forced to continue using the old app’s old app, which was previously needed for the function.
- Although this new feature is now direct to some people, users should note that their old schedules will not automatically end with the nesting app.
In April, Google made a controversial decision to end the support of several old nest thermostis, and extended consumers to the latest 4th general model. Thankfully, the famous general 3 and e -models were saved, which saved many people from forced upgrades. Better, Google also announced that it would eventually add scheduling support to the Google Home app for these models. This is a move that many people still use the old nest app for the last reason. The company did not give a timeline when these scheduling work would end, but I saw the next day that this feature was eventually available to me.

For years, the app’s app has been responsible for controlling all thermosts of the nest. However, with the launch of the 2020 model, the Google Home app became the main way to control thermostat functions. Although old devices like the famous general 3 and e -thermostatis can also be transmitted, an important feature was missing: temperature system schedules. Due to this mistake, many people were forced to install the old, nasty nest app for this function.
In April, Google finally promised to do something, announcing that the full scheduling support for these models in the Google Home app will be “later” later this year. This vague timeline surprised many people whether they would have to wait by the end of 2025. Fortunately, the wait is the end, because I recently found that the Google Home app now has the functions of the new schedules for my general 3 nest thermostat.
As you can see in these screenshots, the Google Home app now allows me to fix specific temperatures of different times of the day, choose which sensors to read the temperature throughout the day, and create a minimum run time for the fans every hour. The main page also provides a day’s schedule. However, one of the negative aspects is that my old schedule of the nesting app has not ended, so I have to re -make it manually.
It is difficult to say how widely this feature has ended. Apart from me, one of my followers confirmed that he also had a general 3 thermostat, but I had not seen a wider mention on social media. If you have a general 3 or e -nest thermostat, check the Google Home app and tell us in the comments if you have new scheduling work!
