After returning in June during the WWDC 2025, Apple announced that a direct translation is coming with iOS 26, in which this feature appears in FaceTime, messages and phone apps. As part of our iOS 26 beta testing, we have taken a look at the iPhone directly translated, and while the Apple version cannot support more and more languages like competitors at the moment, but it feels more aesthetically engaging.

Extra real -time conversation translation features can also be in this way, if only a picture found in the IOS 26 developer Beta 6 released is anything. As seen by the 9TO5MAC, this photo depicts the air pods surrounded by English, French, German and Portuguese.

It seems that you use a gesture where you are simultaneously pressing the trunks of both air pods to mobilize direct translation. Apparently, the indicator works with the translation app that is already included in the iPhones.

According to 9TO5MAC, this feature will only be available on Air Pods Pro 2 and Air Pods 4. Apple has rumored to launch upgraded Air Pods Pro this year, with allegedly coming with numerous new tracking and sensor features. They are also indicated in the iOS 26 code.

    When could it arrive?

Previous reports have indicated that this feature is working. However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gorman has claimed that Apple did not disclose it during the WWDC 2025 because the feature was not yet ready, and the company does not want to repeat the dispute over the WWDC 2024 and the delayed Siri features.

Based on what can be seen, we are not sure which iPhone can support this indicator. However, the new direct translation features require Apple Watch Series 9 or after the Apple Watch Series 9 or after and Apple Watch Ultra 2 watches.

It is possible that this feature is only available in the iPhone 17 series. Apple’s next iPhone event has been indicated on September 9, where this feature can begin with Apple’s latest smartphones and possibly a new pair of third -generation Air Pods Pro.
