If you ever have a pop smear, you know how painful the cervical cancer screening can be, especially the cold, from the inside of the clinical doctor’s office.

Cervical cancer with routine screening is extremely prevention. To provide people with a comfortable and private screening option to the cervical, the women’s health company, Tel Health, developed a tail wand, the first and sole home sample self -collection device for cervical cancer screening in the United States.

Following its FDA approval in May, the tail stick is now available in California. That is how it works and where you can get.

How does a tail stick work?

Through the email, Tel Health’s CEO and co -founder Cara Eagen said, “Tel Wond is a self -collecting device in which the submitted sample is sent to the lab to test high risk HPV using FDA -approved primary HPV tests,” said Email.

The tail stick requires prescription, which you can get from Tel health at GetTeal.com. First of all, you fill the medical qualification questionnaire, order a screening kit and schedule a 10 -minute virtual visit with the tail provider. ۔ After the prescription approval, a cut will be sent directly to your home.

It takes only a few minutes to collect your samples at home. Prints and video instructions can help you guide, and can answer tail support questions. When you work, pack your sample easily and send it to Kalya’s certified lab with the contents provided. ۔

After taking action on your sample, a tail provider reviews the results according to the screening guidelines described by the American Society for Colposcopy and Grave Pathology (ASCP). After sending your sample, you will find results within a week in your safe tail portal. You will be given the opportunity to practically connect with the tail provider to discuss any next steps. If follow -up care is needed, the Tel Team will connect your reference.

For what does Tel Wand Test do?

Even in the Cleansian office, your sample is tested for 14 types of high -risk HPV (human papilloma virus), which offers the highest risk of causing cervical cancer.

According to the World Health Organization, 99 % of cervical cancer cases are linked to HPV infection. Primary HPV tests are a highly sensitive test recommended by the American Cancer Society and US Prevention Services for the screening of cervical cancer.

According to Tel Health, Tail Wond has used the Roche Cobas Primary HPV test, which your doctor will use is the test. The national clinical trial of Tel has also concluded that “using tail wand itself is just as correct as going to the clinic where a provider collects a sample using a speculation and test for HPV.” There is a different way to collect the tail stick sample.

Who can use the tail stick?

There are three types of cervical cancer tests: Primary HPV tests every five years, PAP tests and co -tests that connect both the HPV test every five years with the PAP test every five years.

According to the ASCP guidelines, primary HPV tests through self -collection, which uses tail vands, are suitable for people with the average risk of cervical cancer. Tel Health follows the leaders of the American Cancer Society, which recommends HPV tests every five years for people between the ages of 25 to 65, who have the grave.

Note that American centers (CDC) for the control and prevention of diseases are recommended that people aged 30 to 65 years of age get either HPV tests, PAP tests or both co -tests. ۔

For those over 65 years of age, consult your doctor. If you have received normal or negative results from at least three PAP tests or two HPV tests in the past 10 years, or if you have removed your cervical during total Hastackomy for non -concussion conditions such as fibrids, you will not need to screen.

Regardless of how, it is important to do regular screening, whether you have been vaccinated against HPV. If you are not sure which test is right for you, your doctor can help you decide.

Who does not use the tail stick?

Eagen said it is not currently recommended to accumulate with a tea stick:

    • Patient of cancer history in the reproductive system
    • Patient of HIV (Human Immunodepanic Virus)
    • Patients of DES (Dyetylistelbasol, Artificial form of estrogen) exposure
    • Patient of immunoscopy
    • Patients who have been treated cervical precision, such as LEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excise Procedure) or Cold Knife Connect
    • Patients who are pregnant or within six weeks of birth

Is the tea stick replacing a pop smear?

The tea stick is not like a pipe smear. Instead of the office, the cleansing samples with a speculation, as you have a PAP smear, allow primary HPV screening self -deposited samples.

A pop smear in the tail is defined as less sensitive to HPV testing as it can only detect cell changes once after being done, it is a potential sign that cancer already exists. This is the reason why PAP Samarers are performed more frequently (more than five years of every three years). Its itself does not even test for a PAPHPV, which is the main cause of almost all cervical cancer.

“Globally, the screening of cervical cancer is often called Pep Summer, but along with HPV tests, there are both types of tests for PAP Sameer, cervical cancer screening,” said Eagen. “HPV screening using tail wand is personally an alternative to screening.”

In other words, once you use Tail Wand, you don’t have to re -test your doctor’s office. However, if your results are abnormal and positive for HPV, you may need to get Additional Additional Extra Personal Testing of Cell Changes, such as Colposcopy or PAP Samir. Your tail provider will advise you according to the HPV type detection and your screening date, according to the medical guide letters.

Although the purpose of Tel Health is to help people stay up to the latest in cervical cancer screening, it is always recommended that they continue to be personally rescued care tours annually.

How much does a tail stick cost? Can you use insurance?

With selected insurance companies, full screening experience at home with television consultation is available in $ 99. Without insurance, it is $ 249, but HSA/FSA is eligible for compensation.

Tel Health is currently working with the following insurance projects in California: Sugin, Etana, Blue Cross, California Blue Shield and United Healthcare. The company aims to increase its coverage and provide financial support when needed.

When will Tel Wand be available outside California?

Tel Health plans to make a tail stick available throughout the United States before the end of 2026.

What is the purpose of the tea stick?

According to Eagan, Tel Health is on the mission to improve women’s health care experiences. Tel Health is also a member of the Cervical Cancer Round Table, a co -operation between the American Cancer Society and the Biden Cancer Moon Shot, which is a coalition of industry leaders who are working to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health concern in the United States.

“By developing an option for cervical cancer screening of a woman at home comfortably and providing television follow -up, Tel can increase access to life -saving cancer screening, more and more women can be screening,” said Eagen.
