A total of 14 employees of Huawei will find themselves behind bars-they were found guilty and were sentenced to prison for stealing Huawei secrets.
According to reports, a Shanghai court has sentenced former staff to misuse of trade secrets related to chip technology. The decision was recently issued by the Shanghai Third Intermediate People’s Court and was found guilty of stealing intellectual property after leaving Heslikan to create a new company in Huawei’s Chip Division, Haslikan.
The convicted employees were working for the start -up zoning communication technology and were sentenced to six years in prison besides financial fines. So far, the court has not made the full decision publicly available, the overseas media inform us, and it is unclear whether the defendants intend to appeal. Huawei has not issued any comment in response to the decision.
The case has sent a wave through China’s semiconductor sector, which has brought fresh attention to the ongoing concerns about the protection of intellectual property. According to these reports, Heslikan’s researcher Jung left Huawei in 2019 and started zonpai in March 2021 with the purpose of developing Wi -Fi communication chips.
He managed to recruit several former colleagues to join the project. Huawei responded fast. In August 2023, a legal filing revealed that Shanghai Huslecone Technology, a subsidiary of Huawei, has requested the Shanghai -based court to freeze the assets worth 95 million yuan (about US $ 13.1 million) belonging to Zanpai and its related institutions.
