Of all the new features of iOS 26, Apple previewed in the WWDC in June, Air Pods’ updates were only briefly mentioned. Studio quality audio recording and improved call description received top billing, while the camera remote control was also discussed quickly. However, when the beta software arrived last week, it found that the event had far more features than the described, which made it a material update than Apple’s recent air pods. I have spent some time to test all the new tools, so you can be expected when you decide to use them.
How to get the latest air pods features
All these updates are available for air pods with H2 chip. These include Air Pod 4, ANC and Air Pods Pro 2 with Air Pods 4. You have to download the public beta of both iOS 26 and the latest air pods firmware to use these features. If you are not having an adventure, the last version of Apple’s OS updates will arrive at this fall. This is likely to be for iOS and Air Pods in early September, near the time when the first crop of the new iPhones begins.
Studio Quality Audio Recording
Apple may have developed sound quality improvement on its air pods as a promotion for creators, but I would argue that upgrade will be a welcome change for everyone. Certainly, people who produce content will take great advantage of Apple in the name of “Studio Quality Audio Recording”, but better performance in the noise environment is something that someone will appreciate.
The company has not provided much detail about this to produce high quality audio, just as a result of the Air Pods’ H2 chip mixture changes in the initial press release, making microphones and computational audio beams. This last refreshing is likely to be heavy lifting here, which helps Apple’s audio chip of course. Help. I have asked for more details from Apple, but it is yet to be heard.
Improved audio recording is available in iPhones, iPads and Macs, such as camera, voice memo, messages (for dictation), webX and more. Apple also says sound sounds have been upgraded for calls, which offers “more natural sound structure and description” for phone, facetime and other call cut apps. Since the sound upgrade is the most notable new features, I was anxious to test them, and in the past several weeks, I have just done in (through the developer’s beta).

If you are recording in a quiet room, you will know that Apple has promised that it has increased structure and explanation. There is no big difference between my samples caught in the sound memo, but there is no big difference between the new and old firmware, but it is a significant. There was a huge improvement when I went to the noise. Here, Apple dial to suppress its noise in favor of explaining the sound. Although you will hear the background noise in my audio clip, I really look better. This is a trade on which I bet that many consumers will happily contain highly processor, digital sound results that air pods provided us in the least environment.
I also saw that with the new software, both of my samples were caught at a rate of 48kg samples. This Air Pods is not new to audio recording/quality per second, but before this update, some of my clips still had 24 kg – like my noise sample with old firmware. It looks like Apple is now defaulting to 48KHz as part of the overall sound promotion, but this is not currently clear and I have asked the company for more information about it.
Camera Remote
Apple is less interesting for air pods announced in the WWDC, but so easy update camera remote control. Since the new air pods have either force sensors or they have touch control over their trunks, the company allowed you to take photos or use video recording and stop. All these works are done with a press or press and hold (you choose who you prefer when you activate the camera remote function).
Photo You, You get a count of three seconds before you take a picture of your device. This gives you enough time to keep your hand down after pressing the air pods stem so that you do not ruin the selfie. For video, there is no countdown, but there Is One or two delays before the recording begins. So, if you are in a hurry about it, you can remove your ear before the show time. However, when you have the time to turn off the recording, you still have to reach the air pod or your phone, so there will be some edits. It all works well, but just remember that you have to activate the camera remote feature because it is not activated by default after firmware refreshing.
Sleeping and switching carplay

Most airpod users have fallen asleep with one or both airbids in their ears. Apple’s update will add automatic pause when you are watching or listening to your TV show or podcast you do not lose it. However, it is unclear how it works. All we know is that it’s an easy -on -on -or -switch, and is disabled as a default. Some people have speculated that it uses sleep data from Apple Watch, but has not been confirmed. Since the air pods have an accelerometer, it is possible that this feature can depend on the detection of the movement, but I have sought a strong response to what is happening here.
Another item in the list of air pods updates is automatic switching to the carplay. It is understood that when your phone is connected to your vehicle, it transmits audio without interruptions to your car’s infotainment system. Once again, it has not been debated, and my efforts to mobilize it have failed. This may be due to the fact that it requires a wireless carplay, but I’m not seeing the specific options for it in my air pods settings. I’m also waiting for more information from Apple on this feature, and I hope I will soon have more details to add more details to my observations.
